I ordered one of these monitors for work now that I am working remote like many folks. However, do have to work from varying locations from time to time; hence the need to invest in quality portable monitors. The first SideTrak I received was great. In fact I would give it a 5 out of 5 stars. Because of that I decided to go ahead and get a second monitor, exact same one ordered from the exact same link on Amazon, to complete my workstation. The second monitor I received was clearly an "older" model of the SideTrak Solo 17.3” which is clear by the different version of the logo on the Product as well as the inferior quality of the display. Nowhere near as crisp, nowhere near as bright, display colors do not match the first monitor and clearly a lower quality resolution; and a few other deficiencies not worth mentioning. Unfortunately I did not need to use the monitor right away so by the time I unpacked it, set it up and realized the difference it was too late to return for not getting the product I believed I was paying for. I am not one to leave negative reviews, but I feel like buyers should at least be aware and make sure they get the proper/current version. The older model I got is not "bad" so I refuse to give 1 out of 5, but when compared to the first one I received, and expected to receive when I spent over $500 for a second time, it is definitely inferior; especially for the price. Look at the logo when you purchase. On the "inferior" model I received the brand name "SideTrak" is Bold, there is no border on the logo graphic and there is no trademark ® symbol. The first, and nicer, one I received has a thin logo with a border line around the logo graphic and a clear trademark ® symbol to the right of the brand name SideTrak. You can see the two different versions of the branding in the attached images so you know what to look for. If you get the modern version of this monitor I will say that you will absolutely love it and I would highly recommend it. I purchased this a couple of months ago to use as a second monitor at my house alongside a large Macbook Pro and is sometimes used with other laptops as well. The screen is extremely easy to move about the house, has fantastic picture quality, and is more than worth the cost! The downsides to the screen are that it uses a fair amount of power so my laptop battery doesn't last as long, and I wish the buttons to adjust the brightness were a little bit easier to use (just a bit hard to press and have to press several buttons to get there). The first Sidetrak I got developed intermittent problems with ghosting, power, and fading of the image. I contacted Sidetrak customer support, and they arranged for a replacement. Replacement was shipped while defective monitor in transit. No issues with the replacement monitor. Packaging was very good. A selection cables is included, and the written documentation is well put together. Build quality is good. The protective case is also used as a kickstand. The kickstand is adequate, but it would be nice to be able to use with a rotated image. This is a bit more expensive than similar size and resolution options on Amazon, but I have no regrets with this purchase. My one interaction with customer service was excellent. UPDATE 2022 - After using this for a little over a year, this display no longer works. It powers up and is recognized by my Mac, but the screen remains black. A week ago, pixels on the bottom strip of the display lost some their color. It worked well while it lasted, but this is the second failure since owning the SideTrak. ... show more

I got this monitor to use as a 2nd monitor for online school. I wished the display buttons were in a different spot so I could stand it up on its side, for portrait mode. The screen doesn't seem it's as good as it should be for the price though.

This is a great portable monitor. I travel between locations in different states and spend several weeks at a time. I use to pack my second monitor and lug it along with everything else. This has made a HUGE difference. I like the fact that the additional monitor is level with my laptop. No more looking above my laptop--just a look to the side. I work remotely and am on the move A LOT. This product is everything I wanted and more. It comes with every wire you'll need for it. It was one of the best investments I made for my productivity and working comfortably while constantly traveling. With the USB C wire you don't need any extra wire to run the monitor and charge it. I got the screen in September. Without any fall damage or "traumas" to the screen it currently has bright spots on the upper part and the sides. It was a really useful screen but it's close to being rendered unusable. It's a shame for an amazing product by concept.

So happy to have extra monitors for my laptop, How in the world did I do without it for so long. A little pricey, but worth it if you travel andwork on a laptop. Stand cound be better, but screen is awesome.
