  • Not like alot of the others out there
I picked up on this from the song playing during the credits of the sci-fi movie Morgan. It is haunting and just demanded another listen. The CD does not disappoint. It's lush but not overdone and plays like a start to finish piece. The buried lyrics remind me of the early REM years. Both were done intentionally to make you listen closely. If you are looking for something new and retro at the same time, this could be it. ... show more

  • HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
If you like POLICA, then you will like this CD. I'm always amazed at how these POP stars that make it on the charts and are so popular with the mainstream get to the top. Polica is unique. Lyrics and music are mesmerizing. Maybe it's a good thing the musical artists I prefer are not mainstream and you can still go listen to them live at a small venue where it's more of a personal experience. Highly recommend all of Polica's music!! ... show more

  • Songs can be removed even after you purchase them
I love the album . My only dislike is that One song was removed ( Tiff) by Amazon and I don’t know why.

  • I love her sultry voice
The fact that it's a real band with electronic layers incorporated makes all the difference in the world. I love her sultry voice, of course, but it was really the bass lines that drew me in. In fact, the interplay between the drum and bass keeps pulling me deeper. Nothing elaborate, just melodic, simple and right in the groove. I find it's best to listen to the whole album as a set piece. Moody, sexy, otherworldly, it takes me someplace. Someplace I like to visit. ... show more

  • IMPRESIVE
I NEVER HERD ABOUT THIS BAND. FIRST, THE COVER SHOCK ME. THEN, I BOUGHT THE ALBUM AND LIKE THE SONGS. THE MIX OF ROCK WITH LITTLE ELECTRONICA IS GOOD. THE LYRICS IS AWESOME. ONE OF THE BEST OF THE YEAR...

  • Flawless
Polica's music is so next level it is absurd. Combining all forms of music (instrumentally) and the constant juxtaposition of her voice is scary good (such ferosity and intention but, creative and elegant use of that voice tech). Just, no dull moments. The first album was amazing as well. Hard to say which is better. ... show more

  • Pretty Close to Flawless Sophomore Album
Shulamith is the perfect follow up to Give You The Ghost. Electronic, sometimes dance-driven R&B is Poliça's specialty, and with their second record, they flex a greater confidence and tighter songwriting. Even when the sounds feel processed and digital, you can still hear the humanity and heart behind it-- even more vividly than their debut record. ... show more

  • Polica's Potential
I enjoyed Polica's first album "Give you the ghost" much better, especially Dark Star. Shulamith was a bit of a disappointment. I like the groups echo/techno sound, but some of the melodies aren't as appealing on their second album. But this is a group to notice, & I am looking (listening) forward to their next album. ... show more
