I bit heavier than before, and significantly heavier than 1100 generation, but feels good and true to the size, even though the check pads are now snugger. Ventilation is definitely improved, except for one thing there is less room in front of the mouth now, so the visor gets foggy faster on a wet day because the air doesn't escape that easy even when the chin curtain is removed. I love this helmet! It is well vented; wearing in 100°+ temps. The reflective sections of the white make it more visible at night. I was surprised at how tight it was. I have worn Shoei in the past and wore the same size, but I had to order the next size up pads for it; was uncomfortably tight. Otherwise, awesome lid! ... show more

    • Way too small of entry
I have owned 2 Shoei helmets; both in medium and both fit perfectly. I've tried on several more Shoei brand helmets, and always the same thing: medium size was a great fit, large was on the loose side. I was very excited for the Nocturne white/green model and I rodered a medium. Tight going on and I pulled it down, thought ok, it will loosen up. Then I tried to pull it off....TERRIBLE! I literally had to force it off, and it hurt back of both ears. Tried 3 more times, each time the helmet goes on nice enough, tight because it's new, then it settles down...feels pretty good on. But taking it off was just ridiculous, catching me on the ears and byt the 4th time, me ears were burning. I measured the interior opening and it was a good 3/4" less than that of my other two Shoei helmets. I guess making the entry smaller is their way of making for a more quiet helmet. Return to sender. I tried a large RF 1400 in a local store...too big. Such a shame, the color pattern of this Shoei is one of the more beautiful ones I've seen. Settled for an HJC i71 Iroix--$300 less and way more comfortable in a medium. ... show more

Box was broken, looks was wet and with humidity for a while, helmet has the warning side small labels loosing. Just used once and the visor does not lock well, it goes open with some air. Returning it back probably

    • Overall Great Helmet
This is quite a leap from my previous sedici Strada 2 helmet. The liner is so comfortable, fits me like a glove, and wind noise is drastically reduced. Everything is tight and secure, but that also means the vents do take a bit more effort to open and close. Not that big of a deal for me though. One thing I miss from my other helmet is being able to leave the visor partially cracked open while riding 50mph plus on a really hot day. Ventilation is great and keeps me cool but it was always nice to throw a pair of sunglasses on( which fit great in this helmet btw, can't say the same for the Strada) and leave the visor open and let the air rush in but this visor will just get blown shut, even at slower speeds when going over bumps. Definitely not a deal breaker just wish they would have stiffened the lid a bit. Overall an outstanding helmet. ... show more
