Made with a steel base and featuring Shimano's trademark cooling fins, these pads reinvigorate your braking system for confident stopping power and modulation. Compared to organic pads, metallic pads brake better at high heats, so they'll stay responsive through long, sketchy descents. They also last longer, though the added reliability comes the cost of less initial bite and a bit of extra noise. Each package contains pads, retaining clip, and spring needed to replace the pads on one brake caliper.

I go back and forth between the J03A Resin and the J04A Metal pads. I prefer the J04A and don't mind replacing the rotors occasionally. The J04A last longer and have better braking power. The noise isn't consistently bad, but I have had them be noisy. I think it's worth the extra money for the J04A.

I made this mistake of ordering pads on eBay and think I ended up with counterfeit pads that squeeked and wore out quickly. I ordered these as replacements and found that they brake better than ceramic, do not squeek, and last longer.
