  • Very nice, just not quite fine enough for espresso
First of all, the company has excellent customer service. If you are not satisfied, they will make it right. I like this machine and really wanted it to work for my need, which is grinding espresso only. I love the option to grind for a specified time. Also, the bellow at the top of the bean hopper makes cleaning residual grinds a breeze. Just press it a few times and they all fall out, so you know you are getting fresh grinds every time. It grinds very nicely, but simply wasn't fine enough for me. I was able to pull an espresso shot with it set at the finest setting, but it does about an oz of espresso in shorter than 20 seconds and there is no finer adjustment left to fine tune the shot. If you use a pressurized portafilter basket, this would work fine. Also, it's great for other types of brews like drip. It's well built and designed and I expect it to last a while. ... show more

  • Superb customer service
I have used the grinder several times a day for 8 months. Very happy with the consistent grind quality and the ease of using it. On 4/10 morning it suddenly stopped working I wrote an email to the company about warranty. They promptly replied asking if I need refund or replacement. I asked for replacement. To my surprise I rectitude on 4/12. I am very impressed by the customer service. I glad I can resume my espresso with just two day break. Highly recommended the product and company. ... show more

  • Surprisingly good, but a few things to note
This is my very first espresso setup, I am very much a newbie to it all. The Breville Bambino was a Christmas gift, but I was left to buy a grinder on my own. Lacking the experience & knowledge of the barista bros, I looked for something that I felt was reasonably priced yet performed decent enough to kick overpriced cafe lattes to the curb. I found this, the "Shardor" (a name I find rather comical), and took my chance with it. With the Amazon coupon added, it ended up being right around $70 at the time I purchased it. People like pros n cons so that's what you're gonna get too: Pros: - It does it's job. It grinds coffee. It does, in fact, work, and gives me confidence that it will continue to do so for at least $70 worth of time. Operating usually on the 3rd-to-finest grind level, I get consistently good espresso shots. Can't really go too far into detail about *how* good it is, because again, I'm a beginner. It's good enough for a beginner in my opinion. - The grinder looks pretty nice in my opinion, sporting some stainless steel (not sure if it's genuine but good enough) and a decent 7-segment display. - Moderately loud, but the noise it produces is not terrible by any means - Pretty quick to grind, and is easy to dial in however long you need - Comes with a lot of extras which is cool. Some of them annoy me (keep reading) - The coffee bean hopper and grind level selector feels pretty robust, comes off mostly easily but can be a little tricky to get back on. Cons: - Seems like a Chinese manufactured machine that smaller 'brands' buy and slap their name on. I believe I saw the same exact machine with the name 'Zulay' or something. Either way, the brand itself does not inspire confidence. I worry about doing any sort of RMA or requesting support of any kind. - ATTENTION BREVILLE USERS: The portafilter holder DOES NOT FIT a Breville portafilter. "Sharter" in their infinite wisdom produced a 53mm portafilter-compatible holder thing, where a 54mm is needed for Breville portafilters. Very annoying, wish I would've read the description closer. This is the same for the included dosing ring. - A little confusing to use honestly. When the portafilter holder is in place, it's pretty simple to just dial in the amount of time you need and then hit start. But in my case, that doesn't work. The grinder switches to drip coffee mode, which has 5s increments of time per cup or something. Not sure, don't really care. So yeah, if you wanna cheap out and get this instead of some like $300 'entry-level' grinder, you'll be alright. I've read a lot of reviews saying that the motor dies after some time. That's a valid concern honestly. I'll report back if that happens with mine. I also see people complaining that it doesn't grind fine enough. I haven't had that experience. Using the finest grind setting, my espresso machine struggles to pull a shot. It just dribbles out. Keeping it on the 3-4th finest setting works great for me, pulls good shots that flow well and taste good. It's adequate. ... show more

  • Second Shardor this one Disappointing
So as noted this is my second Shardor. The first one was the 48 Setting Anti-Static grinder and it was a gem. Only issue was it kept going into error E1 at the end of a grind. Necessitating, pulling plug and resetting it. But it was wonderful. Quiet absolutely no static, great grind quality on the beans for my Technivorm Moccamaster drip maker. Research seemed to point to an over temp issue causing the E1 so I decided on this machine because of it's more powerful motor primarily. My thought was perhaps my dark roast beans were a little too much for the first one. I know they were too much for the OXO grinder I had and it broke the drive on the motor. in only 4 mos use. Well this unit has a couple positives I can say about it. It's fast. It's attractive on the counter and easy to use. But it certainly is NOT anti-static. And the grind quality is nowhere near as good as the 48 step one. Leaving "fines" all over the place, stuck everywhere, all over the counter and in the grind chamber. And then now throwing E2 error codes. Again necessitating unplug re-plug mid grind. Just a very disappointing experience. I guess I will be returning this one to Amazon as well. And perhaps go back to the CG203S. It truly was a better grinder. Hopefully the E1 things were just a fluke. And at worst it only made the error at the end of my grind I really really expected so much more out of this one. Edit/Followup 9/10/2023 Shardor sent another one of these assuming something may have been faulty. The second unit arrived and while it functions better (from a static issue) than the first, the control panel on the replacement unit is faulty and does not function correctly. So while this unit is better overall there are still now 2 issues which don't really change how I feel about it. 1. Beans still don't feed smoothly and you get feed interruptions which of course disrupt the grind quantity. Unless you stand there and constantly tap on it or shake it. Quite honestly this is something that I really hate. 2. The control panel refuses to fully function as designed These 2 faults prevent me from giving it much a good score. Still disappointed here. ... show more
