I’ve lost a lot weight and have some loose skin on my stomach, there still is some fat in there but I just wanted to smooth it out a bit. I hate compression wear, it’s so uncomfortable. This is nice and soft, not really compression, suck you totally type of thing. It smoothed me out a bit, didn’t suck me in, just smoothed out a bit which is what I wanted. Light enough for summer, I live in the desert and it was 100 degrees the first day I wore it. I had no issue with it rolling down at the top, the grippy strips worked. The shorts didn’t roll up either. The shorts would be great for chub rub, if you need that. I like having shorts under dresses, I’m 5’9 and dresses can be kinda short on me so I feel better with some style of shorts. I am super happy with them! Would buy again! ... show more

    • Comfortable and Smoothing
Years ago, I swore I would never again wear an uncomfortable body shaper. But when I tried on a dress in my closet that I wanted to wear to a dinner next week, and saw panty lines, pulling and a stomach bulge, I knew I had 3 choices: lose enough weight in one week (LOL!), find a new dress, or order some shapewear. I remembered that the NY Times' Wirecutter had done a shapewear review so I found that article and decided to order the Shapermint high-waisted shaper. I ordered two sizes because I'm always surprised to find that I'm larger than I think I am, but thankfully I never even opened the larger one. I'm 5'2" and 165 lbs and the M-L fit well. I took before and after pictures, but truthfully, it was hard to see any difference in the pictures so I haven't included them with this review. BUT the important thing is that I could see a difference in the mirror and the Shapermint will allow me to feel confident while wearing the dress. Does it give me my old figure back? No, but it does smooth me out with the top of the shaper coming up to my bra line and there is no thigh bulge where the shaper ends. All this while being surprisingly comfortable! I am 5'9" with all my height in my waist (I wear regular length pants, not talls), and while this did a good job smoothing out my silhouette, it is too short for me in the waist. Most average to shorter people would not have this problem, so I don't blame the item itself. I am a size 14/16 on bottom and the M/L size fit, as the size chart recommended. ... show more

Lots of the reviews described the product being too big when ordering the size according to the chart. The shorts fit, but they didn't really provide the support expected. On the advice of a few, I purchased a size xs/s instead of m/l like I normally do. When I looked at the shorts, I thought there was no way that I was going to be able to fit my skinny-squishy 165lb body in those itty-bitty things. But I did. And without much effort at all. They're tight, but they're not snatching my waist like they're supposed to. Everything is smoothed out. No bulges. And I can breathe, but it didn't shape my stomach. My stomach is still pooching out like it did before. There's just smooth flub-blub now instead of multiple flub-blubs and no muffin top (which is nice). I sat down on the bed to see if it was possible to still breathe (it was) and I looked at the package. On the back of the package it says "Plus-size black small" and it now makes sense why I am able to wear it. I'm 5'11. 165lbs. All of my weight is in my stomach, hips, and thighs. I wear a size 10-12 in jeans. Plus-sized clothing is made specifically to accommodate a body type that is beautifully voluptuous. Plus-sized clothing is labeled "16W" or "16 curvy" fur example. The W or curvy indicating that it will fit a fuller figured individual. I know there's not a small in plus-size, but I think I've figured it out nonetheless: I have a friend that wears a size 14 curvy which is another way to tell the shopper that this product is constructed differently from a size 14 regular. The curvy or the W are constructed in a way that allows a fuller figure to settle comfortably unlike the regular that would be far too tight and constricting in the waiste, knees, and calves. Anyway... I checked on Amazon and found a plus-size Shapermint, high waisted shaper shorts that can be purchased in size S-3xl. These shorts are made like the curvy or W to accommodate curves that a woman who wore a regular small would not have. I believe the seller may have accidentally shipped a plus-sized garment when the purchaser wanted a regular rather than plus. And I think that this is why some buyers are talking about sizing down while others are describing being swallowed by a boa constrictor and not being able to breathe, or move, or sit. Maybe if I had a regular small then I'd be complaining about that, too because, trust me, I may be skinny-squishy but I haven't been able to fit into a small anything since 9th grade. These were the best for mid length dresses and the sticky stuff is not like the normal material that irritates your skin in hot and humid weather. The fit was P-E-R-F-E-C-T was unexpected. I do not wear the sticky stuff well however this had reinforcements in the top part of the shorts. I have never seen that before to keep the structure of the shorts to stay up and feel so comfortable on. Will be purchaing another pair. It works! I am so very happy with this product. At first I did not think it would fit me because it looked so small in the package. I purchased an XL/2XL size. It was not hard to put on and it is so comfortable. I needed it to wear under a new gown that I bought to use to an event I am attending. It slimmed down my belly and things. I read other reviews telling me to size down. I would’ve ordered the M/L, but I took a gamble and got the S. I literally laughed out loud as I took it out of package - it was so small. BUT IT FIT AND I COULD STILL BREATHE! I fully recommend sizing down!
