  • My standard of comparison for vocal mics
Style: E 835
I own several mics. I have worked with many others. I have worked as a professional engineer and currently lead a worship band and manage the tech department of a theater. This is my standard for a vocal mic. It has clean, clear sound, excellent response yet stellar handling noise rejection, and is forgiving but transparent. I would and do choose it over the Shure 58 on any given day. If you want to upgrade, go with the Sennheiser 845 or even 865, but dont be fooled by the marketing of the older Shure 58. I use Shure products (think sm 81) for instruments and praise them highly in that function, but for vocals I have never second guessed the Sennheiser 835 as the best choice in the $100 and under category. ... show more

  • For Musicians and Proffesionals
Style: E 835
I've used the SM58 for years and my buddy suggested I try out Sennheiser. WOW. This mic has helped me improve my live set, and save my voice! This mic has a wider frequency responce than the sm58 (also $99.95) and a smoother eq curve so I sound more natural. the mic has a louder output than the sm58 so I don't need to push my voice as hard when I sing which allows me to sing longer or add harder songs. After about 3 years and 250+ shows both indoors and outdoors the mic gave out but it has a 10 year warranty! I called customer service sent them my mic and they sent me a free one! Great mic must have for any proffesional! ... show more

  • crisp natural sound low close presence distortion compared to xm8500. and its made in Germany
Style: E 835
compared to the xm8500 this is much better doesn't get boomy and distort when close talking on the ham radio I know 5 times the price but worth it to me I run it through protools EQ Gate and Limiter with a Pureformer transformer and Mbox mini on the vhf uhf radio but on the hf radio directly into the radio with a little EQ adjustments in menu and little gain sounds great ,I have not tried the sm58 but I bet they are close ,I have heard the sm58 changed the quality in the last 5 years so im not taking a chance, I do have the foam on it because if I close talk, it cuts back on air puffs but not needed there is foam on the inside of the grill and the element is on a shock absorber and is very directional to the top so it doesn't pick up unwanted sounds unless they are in the top direction,so if you want a crisp natural sounding microphone this is it ... show more

  • Great choice over the Shure SM58 for a baritone/tenor voice.
Style: E 835
Big fan of this mic over the Shure SM58. I've used the SM58 everywhere for years, but this mic picks up my vocals brighter and with more clarity. This is perfect for my baritone/tenor voice. If you like the SM58, I would encourage you to try this. You won't be disappointed.

  • Significantly lower quality compared the the E935, but still good.
Style: E 835
I own both this and the E935. E935 is easily, no questions, the better mic. Buy that instead. If you can't, this is still good, but it's noticeably not as good as the E935. It doesn't quite capture the same volume and integrity of the voice compared to the E935.

  • I didn't like sm58 because it sounds little muddy to me
Style: E 835
I used sm58, sm58 beta before. I didn't like sm58 because it sounds little muddy to me. I liked sm58 beta but it's kind of pricey. I think e835 doesn't have warmth like sm58 or sm58 beta but it definitely has more clarity. I chose this over sm58 beta because this one was cheaper. But I changed my mind after I used this. Now I would chose this over sm58 beta even they were same price. ... show more

  • It works great with my TC Helicon Voicelive Touch 2
Being a Sennheiser fan, the mic meet my expectations for vocals. The FX button, designed to work with certain TC Helicon pedals, is a definite PLUS. It works great with my TC Helicon Voicelive Touch 2. Depending on the pedal you're using you can set it to perform a number of different functions. In my case, I set it to turn vocal effects on and off so that I can have harmony where I need it while performing. The button itself works perfectly. There's no delay when activating or deactivating. The only minor problem I find is that the button is so sensitive, it's very easy to accidentally turning the effects on or off. Other than that, the mic does what it is supposed to do. ... show more
