Description

(Ensemble Collection). This classic series of duets for like instruments is recognizable to nearly everyone who has ever studied an instrument. The wealth of material supplements musical development and provides a rich experience for growing musicians. Duet playing is often a student's first form of ensemble experience - technique, tone quality, intonation and balance are introduced as students do one of the things they enjoy most - making music with a friend. And duet playing leads easily and naturally to competent performance in larger ensembles. (Vol. I Easy to Medium, Vol. 2 Medium to Advanced) Read more

  • Nice Music Book
Format: Paperback
I liked this duet book. It has both challenging and easy pieces for the beginner flutist. It also has a good variety of styles and I like the page format.

  • Wonderful selection of duets
Format: Paperback
I’m a strong intermediate amateur player and find this compilation wonderful for both playing for pleasure and developing my skills. Most of the pieces are relatively short, and a wonderful review of mid-17th through 19th century composers. When playing alone I switch voices on the repeats for the variety and to keep both parts under my fingers. ... show more

  • Nice for Getting Back Into Flute with Friends
Format: Paperback
Trying to get back into playing flute after several years and I probably used this same book a long time ago in late middle school or early high school. Easy to read music and fun to get back into playing with a fellow flute friend. Relatively easy music to pickup, even if it has been a while since seriously playing. ... show more

  • Good Book for a Teacher to Keep on Hand
Format: Paperback
I like to end each flute lesson with a short duet with the student, and this is a real workhorse of a book for that purpose. The duets so far as I know are originals -- written as duets by the composers-- and there's plenty of useful work in each part. Most are fairly short. The book is pleasantly formatted, with notes big enough and spaced enough to make it easy for students new to sight-reading, and the staves are spaced apart enough and with heavy enough brackets to make it easy for students to keep track of the parts. The selection is pretty heavy on 17th and 18th century composers though -- you might want to add one (or more) of the Hal Leonard Jazz Flute Duets. The ones I have are well done with good parts for both players. ... show more

  • A Great Book
Format: Paperback
This isn't exactly, "easy", but it challenges a well versed band student. As usual these books are wonderful for technique and sight reading. It's nice in contrast to the Rubank Method because it focuses on multiple part performance. It's great for those in band struggling to work on their parts without others playing along. If used correctly, this can help students develop both technique and confidence; however, it's best used (eventually) as supplemental material, or sight reading material. My one complaint about this is that the "level" of the book should just be plain old, "Medium". There's not many "easy" things inside this book. I would say at least a year of play is needed in some cases, more. ... show more

  • best easy duet compilation I have seen
Format: Paperback
I needed this book and couldn't find my original copy, so was happy to get this cheaply and quickly. I wish volume 2 was as good as this volume 1, but there is nothing I can do about that.
