We use this 14 lb anchor on muddy and seaweed bottoms. After literally throwing the last anchor and losing it somewhere in Lake Erie I went on line to buy another only to discover the one I bought last year was not available. While it was a good little plow anchor I am finding I like this one so much more. Even though this anchor is 1 lb heavier it is a bit smaller than the last one which means it fits into the anchor locker easier. Also, with it being smaller the seaweed monsters that we pickup from the bottom of the lake are easier to get off. The last one I struggled trying to get those seaweed monsters off the anchor and damn near fell into the drink a couple times. This anchor the flutes are smaller so if you dip the anchor back into the water several times the seaweed comes right off. Then I believe the center is solid on this anchor or at least better welded then the last because I don't get a constant stream of mud coming out of this anchor getting me and my my boat dirty while trying to put it away. Welds looked good and anchor hold as expected. Fits well in my anchor locker, and was easy to attach to the rode. After a season of mild use it still looks new.

THIS IS EXACTLY THE SAME ANCHOR AS THE HIGHER PRICED VERSIONS OF A PLOW ANCHOR... SO BUY THIS INSTEAD AND SAVE SOME CASH.... MY SAILBOAT IS A F-28 AND IT CAME WITH A 24 LB PLOW ANCHOR THAT IS TOO HEAVY, WITH 9 LBS OF CHAIN. TO EASILY HAUL OUT OF THE WATER.... SO THIS 14 LB ANCHOR WILL BE BETTER AND IF I THINK THE HOLDING OR WIND IS DICEY I'LL USE TWO ANCHORS CONNECTED BY A 15 FOOT CHAIN... THE 14 LB PLOW AND A 12 LB CLAW... Quality product. Very well built / welded. 22LB unit Holds our 31' boat very well in most conditions and I personally love the plow style for ease of setting the anchor alone. We use an anchor puller with it and find it simple to retrieve as well.

Good quality. Angle of the blade needs to be adjusted though. Once it grabs hold it does a great job, getting it to set is a little tough though

I thought that this was going to be a good buy but I was wrong. I have 10ft of chain on my rode and this anchor will net set for nothing. I anchor at a beach all the time and it is sand with gravel mixed in. Everybody I anchor with have no problems with their plow anchor. I set my anchor further out then any of them and it still does not stay set. I give it a 1 star only because it is easy to retrieve. Lol ... show more
