  • It'll last, with some very cheap and easy modifications.
Bought this my first week in gunsmithing school back in 2015. Finally gave up the ghost this past week, after about 10 years of daily work. Had to pick the two heads I used the most, and epoxy them in place, and I had to epoxy the head back on once. Despite those two issues, which were immediately rectified by the epoxy, it's done me so well, I wanted the exact same one again. Here's to another 10 fruitful years. ... show more

  • Best hammer
Only gun smithing hammer kit I ever used

  • Great value.
This petite hammer is not worth the money I paid for it. It is worth considerably more. I bought this for adjusting the depth and cant of the irons on wooden planes. That job requires finesse rather than force. With the brass tip on one end for striking the iron and the rubber tip on the other for striking the wooden body, it is perfect for the job. And is still has the non sparking copper tip as well as plastic and nylon tips should I need them elsewhere. I have seen plane hammers selling for as much as $150. This hammer doesn't meet the same levels of craftsmanship, nor was I asked to pay for that. It is inexpensively made, yet entirely adequate for the job. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • 3-4 stars
Besides being made in China & the handle (wood) is cheap & grain is wrong, seems to be good enuff for the job. I sanded all the varnish goop off handle & put some homemade bees wax olive oil paste on it. Handle is odd shaped as if it was shaped on a belt sander by a six pack beer. It may break eventually. But if I can get whatever gunk they used in the head out, I can fix that. If you get it I'd suggest don't take it out the package too quick. If you ADHD/OCD/CRS like me, find some way to mark the interchangeable heads. It's marked on the pack, but I took it out on the table & immediately forgot what order they were in. It's the softer ones I'm talking about, no prob with the metal. Maybe write it down somewhere permanent. I struggled between 3-4 stars. But the China & cheap handle win. ... show more
