  • Very easy to install
I wanted a better cooler for my ryzen 3600 than the stock one and some how I ended up finding this and purchasing it. It was cheaper than the high end ones, but still felt like it would do a good job for its price. My high temps dropped from 90 to 80, and idle was a lot cooler too. Recently upgraded to a 5800x3d and this cooler works perfectly for it. I added a 2nd fan (a kaze one with same RPM but slight different CFM but no issue there) and I think I even underused the paste, but it was still enough where playing games I never go above 70 degrees celcius, and it only hits 90 when doing really intense stress test. Most benchmarks keep is down to 85 at max (and I live in Florida, AC not always on blast). 5800x3d is a hot CPU with the l3 cache, but this cooler does great keeping it cool and undervolting helps temps on the 5800x3d a little. The best thing about this cooler was how easy to install it was. I wanted a cooler where I didn't need to mess around with crazy brackets and such, and this one has a couple but they are very easy to install compared to most other CPU coolers I saw. It includes a nice magnetic screwdriver as well. It is pretty quiet, but the 2nd fan I added made it a little loud when running at full load, but honestly not that bad and you might not need to run it at full RPM like me (florida). ... show more

  • Cooler than cool and you can add a second fan! (I did ... and then built a second PC for myself)
Style: Mugen 5 Rev.B
I use this cooler with my Ryzen 7 3700X CPUs and I added an additional fan (Noctua NF-P12 redux-1700 PWM, High Performance Cooling Fan, 4-Pin, 1700 RPM (120mm, Grey)) on the other side of the heat sink. Neither fan is noisy at all. I cannot hear them over background noise. This cooler is tall, so check your case width. It does have an off-center mount so the heat spreaders on my RAM do not bang onto the cooler spreader. So far, I have not had any problems with the Myugen on either of my builds. Oh! And it comes with a screwdriver and thermal compound paste Pros: Really cool (literally and style wise) Not loud. Even with a second fan. (I also bought Noctua NA-SAVP1 Anti-Vibration Pads for 120/140mm Fans) Offset cooling Heatsink clears RAM modules (check your own ram height requirements) FREE mounting screwdriver for the mounting screws. (And a very nicely made one - you know like how they USED to make them - clear handle, weighted shaft, slightly magnetized tip, solid tip that does not shred when trying to screw in a screw, etc.) AMD (AM4/Ryzen) and INTEL (LGA151) mounting hardware included (check your CPU/MB specs for compatibility) Fantastic price. You won't have to be afraid of a water cooler accident in your PC. ADVISEMENTS (Not CONS, because I love this cooler): It is tall, so check your case. If you have tall heat spreaders on your RAM, check your specs. It is heavy, but the motherboard and case backplate support it well. Just be careful. I did not see any undue stress when mounting either of my Scythe Myugen Rev. Bs in either build, but make sure you have the motherboard standoffs underneath to support the weight. You may find yourself giggl...er... laughing at how easy to install and wicked this cooler looks on your board. I did, and almost drooled on it. Almost literally drooled. No lights on the stock cooler or fan for flashy RGB fanatics. Flashy colours aren't my thing, but FYI in case they are yours. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! ... show more

  • Even if you're not on a budget this should be your go-to cooler!
Style: Mugen 5 Rev.B
I was looking for an upgrade from my Wraith Prism cooler that came along with the 3700x. The Wraith works well enough, but it is a loud, top down style cooler that I'm not particularly a fan of. The installation was straight forward as you don't need to swap the back-plate if you are coming from an AMD cooler. Just four spacers and two brackets and the cooler is ready to be installed. The screwdriver that comes with the kit is easily valued at $5-10 and is actually a legitimate tool that any hobbyist or tinkerer would be happy to keep for future use. I used Arctic MX-4 thermal grease since I had it on hand. I might recommend getting an aftermarket thermal paste, not because I doubt the performance of the paste that comes with the kit, but I was not able to control the flow very well due to the "stickiness" of the syringe it came in and couldn't get an even application like I can with the MX-4 syringe. The cooler is easy to seat and the screwdriver makes securing it evenly effortless. The Scythe fan is excellent! It comes with vibration dampeners pre-installed, an extra set of clips for a second fan (for push/pull config) if you so choose, and it is extremely quiet! Once the cooler was installed I took about five minutes just to stare at it because it looks great! The caps that they put on the end of the heat pipes (of which there are six) look awesome and overall, it is an aesthetically pleasing design. Unfortunately, the room that my PC is in gets hot do to a lack of AC and it is currently summer in Texas. This was one of the reasons I decided I needed to upgrade to a larger cooler. At its hottest (and during the time of my stress test) it gets anywhere from 80-85F in the room which is hotter that most would ever keep their PC room especially if they had a choice! My case is an NZXT H510 Mid case with 2x140mm fans pushing and 2x120mm fans pulling. I ran the Prime95 stress test for an hour and fifteen minutes at a 3.9GHz overclock, at the hottest time of the day in my room. The CPU temp never went above 73C, Max fan speed was 1130RPM and during that time it was never any louder than my old Prism cooler at an idle temp speed, I could barely hear it honestly. This cooler was ~50 bucks... There are plenty of 80-100 dollar coolers out there and I wouldn't recommend any of them over this because that ~1-2C degree difference you MIGHT see isn't worth paying extra for in my opinion. Solid quality, unbeatable value, and dead quiet... ... show more
