Overpriced Garbage with a Fake Warranty I bought my wife a Scout bag after hearing glowing praise on a ski podcast. I expected a premium product from a company that supposedly prides itself on quality. What I got instead was a glorified reusable grocery bag. Seriously—the material feels no better than the $1.99 tote you’d grab at checkout. Still, my wife liked the design, so we kept it. The $75 price tag seemed absurd, but fine—sometimes you pay for “brand.” Big mistake. By August—just a few months after purchase—the bag ripped at the handle. This wasn’t a well-worn, everyday workhorse either. It was lightly used, treated gently, and failed anyway. So I reached out to Scout for warranty service, assuming a company that positions itself as “reliable” would stand behind its product. Nope. They flat-out refused to honor the warranty because I bought it through their official Amazon storefront instead of their website. Let that sink in: I bought directly from their company store on Amazon, but because it wasn’t their dot-com checkout, they wash their hands of it. That isn’t a warranty—it’s a trap. A fake promise designed to make customers feel secure until the moment they actually need support. Then, suddenly, it doesn’t apply. Bottom line: Scout charges premium prices for dollar-store quality and hides behind a fake warranty to avoid accountability. There are countless bag makers out there who actually build durable products and respect their customers. Skip Scout and spend your money on a company that deserves it.
