Scotch has provided itself the authenticity of being a name brand for a long time, with that being said, this is specialty tape designed to be used as an integrated material with paint and as such this was the purpose and intent of my purchase. I've had it for several weeks now, and thought it might be pertinent to showcase a simplistic review of its usage. For its intended purpose it works, however I have some concerns about the longevity as this was used to hang photos on a photo wall, the adhesive doesn't appear to be very strong and because of that there are already some concerns about whether or not it will work long-term. After multiple reapplications of the tape itself, in a well-cooled room without any direct solar penetration, it has been a little hit or miss in terms of it staying in place. With that being said, the tape itself has not damaged the paint at all and above anything else that is why this specialty tape was chosen over other tape options. We used this to hang up decorations in an AirBNB for my bachelorette party and this item left no residue and did not mess up the paint. All the decorations stayed up on the wall from Thurs-Sun! Definitely recommend!

    • Less Residue Than Regular Tape But Not Perfectly Clean When Removed

I originally discovered this in a store, and was curiously hopeful because I needed a tape that would not leave a sticky residue when removed. Generally this does do what it says, although it is not perfect. I did have to deal with some minor sticky residue when I removed it from the back of a guitar (and now a few guitar pedals! Updated 11/5/2022). But for most applications I have not had a problem with residue. Keep in mind that this tape is not as adhesive as regular cellophane tape. That makes sense given it's less sticky nature. I keep this tape on hand as well as regular Scotch tape, depending on what I need it for. Many times when I tape something on my refrigerator or file cabinet, it is not meant to stay there forever. And Goo Gone doesn't always work so well to get the residue off, so it is good that this stuff exists. ... show more

Unfortunately this stuff is not sheer or I'd just use it for wrapping packages. This stuff is VERY sticky!!! I keep trying it on different things and it's torn up several things when I try to adjust it. The regular everyday tape is so much better at not tearing up walls, or pictures, or pieces of cardboard. Unless you can think of something to use this for, just get the regular tape. ... show more
