What sold me on this was that it included black pepper. Black pepper is needed when you take turmeric, evidently. So then I thought, maybe there are other links that I don’t know about between these ingredients. I am giving it a try.

Although this product contains a lot of different supplements that I would recommend taking, the doses of the majority of the ingredients are far lower than what would be considered an effective dose. For example it, contains 100mg of acetly-lcarnitine, this is a supplement I've been taking for a while and I normally take 500mg, which is just a single dosage/capsule from most brands. Then there's the msm in this supplement at 50mg per serving. I take MSM sometimes and the dosage typically recommended is 1000-2000mg. The proprietary blend at the bottom of the ingredients list has more than a few ingredients, with l-theanine being the main ingredient. The entire proprietary blend contains 200mg of substances. The lowest dose of l-theanine I take is 200mg. 100mg can be an effective dose for some people though, so let's say the proprietary blend contains half l-theanine, that means the rest of the ingredients in the blend would be present in miniscule dosages. So despite this containing many ingredients that are useful, I think you're better off buying the most effective ingredients separately. It will be a larger investment initially but will save you a lot over time as long as you choose decently priced brands. Some of the most effective ingredients in here for pain are turmeric/curcumin with added bioperine, glucosamine and chondroitin, and arnica. Alpha-lipoic acid and l-theanine are great too for different reasons. And like I said this product is full of good ingredients, more than just the ones I've mentioned. So I would recommend doing a little research on each one and figuring out what might be worth getting separately. If you just want the convenience of taking a single product then you can give this combination of supplements a try, just know that you're not getting efficacious dosages of many of the ingredients. For that reason I don't think this is worth the cost.

When I ordered this the words “nerve plus” on the label and in the ad caught my eye. I did not notice that the label specified “sciatica” but I do have recurring leg pain. I took the supplement for two weeks. But did not see that it had any special effect on anxiety (nerves) or on pain, though among the many ingredients are meant to target inflammation that causes pain and at least one (L-theanine) is often used for its sedative effect. Sometimes supplements take far longer than two weeks to have an effect, but I stopped under medical advice. In the past I have taken other ingredients listed among those in this supplement as ‘stand-alones’ to address different bodily complaints over the years, and I am convinced that, for example, turmeric (made effective by the inclusion of black pepper) lessens inflammation. Studies show this, and I have had a physician prescribe turmeric and pepper in the past. But I find no RDA for this combo, only suggestions for dosage by weight-- a daily teaspoon of turmeric powder with 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper for someone my weight. From what I have read, 100mg of turmeric, as is in this supplement, is not a high amount. I checked out the dosages of other ingredients in this Vitamax supplement and it seems to me that the amount of most ingredients is modest, that the product’s effectiveness relies on a combination of all ingredients, perhaps. There is a warning on the label that tells one that if they are on any medications to check with their physician before taking this supplement. I did check with my doctor in an annual appointment. She advised me to discontinue use of this supplement because it contains ingredients that can thin one’s blood—White Willow and Devils Claw—and because I am not deficient in any of the other ingredients. She pointed out that if I want to take supplements, I would be better off taking single ingredient supplements, as I have in the past, that target specific “needs” like inflammation or “nerves.” And, of course—as physicians often do, she told me to get more exercise to address these issues, as well. So, I can’t recommend or advise against this supplement. It seems like an interesting balance of vitamins and herbs for a person who is healthy and not taking other medications. But, frankly, I don’t comprehend how it uniquely addresses sciatica and I wish that this were specifically addressed in the advertising.

We ordered these capsules for myself, and I do like that they come in capsule form rather than pills/ tablet form as I don't like the taste of pills, and that makes it hard for me to swallow. I have been able to comfortably take 2 capsules each day and I do like that they are not difficult for me to swallow without any hassles. I have been taking these supplements for the past 2 weeks now, and so far, so good, as I has been having less discomfort. So far, these supplements are giving me some relief. I will wait again for several weeks, and if anything changes, I will update the review.

The product itself appears to be well made, with the capsules having uniform appearance, medium size, and are easy to swallow. All this being said, I added this to my daily regimen of supplements and hope the health benefits are realized upon my next checkup and daily routine.
