We bought this to replace one of the car strollers that just wasn't comfortable to push as the handle was so low and our toddler was getting too heavy and active for it. Overall, we love this! It was easy to assemble and the handle bar height is very comfortable for adults 5'7" to at least 6'. The baskets and backpack are great- plenty of room for juice boxes, water bottles, phone, keys and all the other accoutrements like the random rocks and acorns a walk with a toddler includes. It turns smoothly and is easy to push up and down hills. Also, the way the back basket tilts to dump out is great both to parents wanting to clean debris and toddlers wanting to play. Very sturdy and seems well made. Only three issues to be aware of. First, the peddles began squeaking immediately on our first outing. Some WD40 remedied that but it was really loud and annoying as it sounded like a rusty old thing rather than brand new. The other issue was the steering. The child's pedaling or lack there of have no impact on your control, but the tighter turning radius of this made it scary when, on a busy street, our 2.5 year old turned the handlebar so suddenly and with enough force that it overpowered my steering direction. He found it hilarious and a kind of tug-of-war ensued as I struggled to keep it straight. The final flaw is perhaps more a result of my height/stride and maybe not an issue for everyone but I felt that if the angle of the handlebar were just a little different, I'd be more comfortable. My toes occasionally would hit the back basket's lip when walking at a brisk pace.

Used it for 17 month old toddler. She Loved it. Foot rest is perfect, because she cant keep her feet on the pedals yet (pedals do move when the tricycle on the move). It was a little bit to high for her to get on it by her self but in a couple of month it will not be a problem. Seat belt is helpful, prevents child from jumping of it while on the move. The front bucket is perfect as a cup holder -- she was able to reach it on her own -- drinking and driving ;) the back bucket is kind of useless. First of all, it flips!!!, if you put anything "heavy" in there in there, you will get a back flip bucket -- all your belongings on the ground. It did hold the small ball without a problem though. Second of all, it is not deep enough to put anything in there. The seat has a backpack attached to it -- good for keys, cell phone, small snake, wipes. Did use a lot. Steering is easy. The only problem you face -- u have a toddler steering the other direction ;) Didn't have a problem wheeling it in and out of the elevator. I would say it handles well on different terrains except of sand :) Easier to carry than drag it through the sand (like beach sand, not like hard core packed sand ;) ) Did get some squeaking after dragging it through the sand -- wd40 solved the problem! Was easy to put together and take the steering handle off in order to fit in the car trunk.

We love this tricycle--my 1 year old son NEEDS to ride it every time he sees it! We got it for him for his 1st birthday back in April. We can't get out of the garage without taking him for a quick ride before getting in the car to go somewhere he just loves it so much. Its very aesthetically pleasing and we love that it has the belt, basket in front and backpack on the back (the dumping basket on the back is not very practical since when your walking if you put things there and hit a bump it will dump out...would be nice if there was a way to secure it when you didn't want it to be a dumping play basket so you could carry a diaper bag or purse in there!) The pushing handle is easily taken off and put back on so we can put the tricycle into our small car to take places! Now for the flaws...the pegs for my son to rest his feet on are in a weird place...back a little too far to be a good resting place for his feet. He is 1 and a half now and it still seems like the pegs are too far back! When his feet are resting they often get wedged between the front tire and the bar or hit by the moving pedals...luckily it makes a rubbing or banging sound so we stop right away and try to fix his feet...I usually end up tucking his toes behind the pegs but the he sits kind of funny with his legs so far back, but its better then his little feet getting scraped up by the tire or hit by the pedals! It squeeks like crazy...we even oiled up areas that were squeeking but it continues to be kind of noisy, which isn't too big of a deal because my son is louder then the bike anyway so people always know we are coming! haha. The handle that you hold to push gets out of line with the front tire a lot so you have to stop and hold the back handle straight while you turn the handle bars on the front to line it up again. We have had older kids over to play who have tried to pedal to ride the tricycle and the front handle bars get out of line with the tire a lot and it becomes very difficult for them to ride because its not going the direction they are trying to go. (when they turn the front tire doesn't turn with it) I'm not sure if there is something that we can fix to correct this problem but if there isn't then this won't make a very good tricycle for my son to learn how to pedal on and we would have to purchase something else BUT I had hoped that this would last him until he was ready for a bigger bike! I am also disappointed that the tires are plastic, it would be a much better product had they been rubber...the plastic sometimes slides on surfaces and the tire won't even turn. For the price you would think they could give you a nice set of wheels! Overall this trike is a hit with all the kids we know and especially my son, who adores it! If the steering issues are something that can be corrected then the peg placement can be overlooked but for the price you would really think that all the parts should work well...and being made by a well known bike company I thought this would be a higher quality and better functioning product then most of the others out there!

Summary: Many of the tricycles on the market now are at least $100. I did my research before choosing to buy this one. I love schwinn products because they are high quality. I bought this for my daughter's first birthday because I wanted a high quality product that I didn't have to spend a fortune on. She loves the trike and it has held up well since I bought it in June. We take a decent length walk using this trike at least twice a week. Pros: -Unlike other trikes, the framework of the schwinn is made of metal-not plastic. That says a lot for durability. -The seat, basket, and wheels are plastic. -Assembly is not difficult-I was able to do it myself in less than an hour. You will need a few tools from the toolbox. -The colors (red & white) are nice and gender neutral-I wish there were a few other color options though. I haven't noticed any color bleed from the seat to my daughter's clothes. Cons: -The steering from the parent handle is a little loose. -The wheel has started to squeak (loudly) on ours, which can be annoying during a nice long walk. -The buckle for the safety belt has been extremely difficult to unlatch. One side always comes out great but we really have to work to get the other side free. -I would not recommend putting a child much younger than a year on this trike because of the lap-only belt. Even going slow-big bumps can sometimes throw my daughter off balance and I have to stabilize her so she doesn't fall off.

We have two "adult controlled" tricycles. The Schwinn Easy Steer Schwinn Easy Steer Tricycle, Red/White and the Radio Flyer All Terrain Stroll N' Trike Radio Flyer All-Terrain Stroll 'N Trike Ride On Both have nice features, but I like the Schwinn a little better. I'll explain. -The Schwinn has a wider wheel base so it is more difficult to tip over. This is especially useful if an older child might be pushing a younger child in the trike at any point. It also feels more stable going over grass or berms or natural terrain. -The Schwinn has foot pegs so the child has somewhere secure to rest their feet until they are big enough to reach the pedals. The Radio flyer has no such feature and the legs just dangle. -The Radio Flyer has the plastic bars that encircle the child and it is easy to be lazy and not use the straps. The Schwinn only has straps and thus, we always use them, so baby ends up more secure in the Schwinn. -The Schwinn is also bigger and will accommodate a greater age range of children (from about 8 months to 5 years), while the radio flyer is already too small for our 3 year old. -We have also found that the Schwinn works better for tall people/ long legged adults. We are tall adults 5'10 and 6' and are often bumping feet into the back of the Radio Flyer as we walk. This also happens occasionally with the Schwinn, but not as often. -The Schwinn has a front basket and a rear basket for holding toys or objects found. The Radio Flyer has a smaller rear basket only (though it does have a nifty little cover that the Schwinn does not). -The Radio Flyer has a handy shade that will protect baby from direct overhead sun (but we rarely use it as we do not really use it during that time of the day. The shade is not adjustable so its use is limited (it opens and closes, it does not tilt/ rotate). -The Radio Flyer has no brakes (the pedals just spin backwards). Maybe this isn't a huge deal as kids will learn to put their feet down to stop, but the Schwinn has brakes and the child can learn to use them as they progress towards two-wheeled bike skills. -The Radio Flyer has rubber tires that give a smoother ride than the plastic wheels on the Schwinn, but the rubber stinks bad. We had to park it in the sun for a couple weeks to get the smell to dissipate before we could put it in the garage. -Lastly, the Schwinn is about $60 less than the Radio Flyer at the time of this review. This is a plastic bike almost all plastic, so hopefully that helps set your expectations. The bike assembled very easily, I do not expect to have this bike for many years but it is working very nicely for my just turned 3 year old who doesn't always want to pedal. You can steer from behind and that function is holding up on our bumpy dirt road. If you are using this pavement I think the ease of use will be great for you ! As others said the squeaking noises were really bad ! WD40 didn't work to get ride of the noise however I used a quality grade bike grease on it and the noises have stopped (so far). I actually prefer to not use the safety straps because when the bike falls over my daughter can catch herself the safety strap hinders her movement so I actually think it is safer without the strap.

This trike is great! It's easy to put together and my 3 year old loves it. He is large for his age so other trikes are way too small. His daycare friends who are 5 years old can easily fit on this trike as well. I especially love the steering handle. It doesn't stay true and drifts from the center at times but it's manageable. The buckle is a bit annoying because it's hard to unbuckle. But this is probably the best trike for bigger toddlers.

Tricycle was purchased to replace a previous model that had finally worn out after several years, and several kids, of use. New model disappoints and is dangerous. We did not open the box for a couple months after purchase, but upon doing so it became immediately apparent that build quality was poor. Both plastic and metal parts seemed weak. Assembly revealed a poor fit between many parts and I was concerned that I might actually break pieces while putting them together. Once assembled, the bike did look nice and shiny, however the feel was cheap. Biggest problem is with the steering/handlebars. The fit between the handlebar and the front wheel is bad and only secured by a clamp that does not allow for a secure connection. Generally, kids can't steer. Regardless of how often the steering clamp is re-tightened, the handlebars move more than the wheel, with a constant amount of "play" in the handlebars. This play leads to the more serious problem, fall risk. In many cases, a child will attempt to steer the bike, and in doing so turn the handle bar but not the wheel. When he or she reaches forward with one arm and back with the other, and the bike doesn't turn they are thrown severely off balance. DONT USE THE INCLUDED SEAT BELT. It has been our experience that when the bike tips you dont want to be strapped to it. if you leave the seatbelt off, a child can at least stand up off the bike when it starts to tip. If not, they go down with the ship. We purchased this bike for use in a pediatric physical therapy clinic because of the assist bar. It's a good concept, but like the steering bar very ineffective. Because of the safety issue, and the frustration it causes our kids we only used this bike for a couple days. Once it was obvious that attempts to repair or adjust it were useless we removed it from our treatment area. We are attempting to work with Amazon regarding a return. If that fails, it will go in the dumpster - I wouldn't feel comfortable even giving it away to someone.
