It has a reflective strip along the sidewall for additional visibility when riding at night. The tire weighs almost 3 and a half pounds, but it is a thick tire. I also installed two tire liners for extra flat protection. This is as close as I can get to an airless tire. I cannot find a 29 inch airless mountain bike tire or airless tire liner. I have ridden 1,200 miles without a flat. My bike is my transportation so reducing the chance of flats when commuting to work and hauling home refrigerated and frozen food is of the utmost importance to me. UPDATE: As of April 14, 2022, I have ridden about 6,200 miles with these tires and added tire liner materials and HAVE NOT HAD ANY FLATS FROM PUNCTURES! I have had not had to replace the front tire yet. I had to put on another SCHWALBE Marathon Plus MTB on the rear at about 3,150 miles. Since the rear tire is drive tire and more weight is on the rear tire, it is not surprising that it did not last as long as the front tire. When the tire life is averaged using the front and rear tires, it will be at least 5,000 miles per tire. ... show more

Best bike tires I have ever ridden on. Sure, maybe not the lightest out there. And probably not the best for making crazy downhill riding videos to post online. But for the majority of us that ride neighborhoods and the occasional light trail with our families, you can’t beat this tire. Smoothest and quietest I’ve ever had on an MTB with a good balance of traction when you need it, and have never gotten a flat. Worth every penny. ... show more

The tire is great on asphalt roads or hard dirt trails that I had it on. I will ride my bike with my wife riding her horse. Some trails get rough. In the past, I average about 1 flat every 6 weeks with Bontrager XR2 tires. Have not has a flat since I installed this tire. Hopefully this tire will continue to break the pattern of getting flats.
