Top Amazon Reviews

  • Well constructed and set up instrument with a beautiful finish
I decided to get this bass because of the features, the reviews on the web and the value (great sale price). Buying an instrument online without being able to handle and play it first is usually not recommended, but in this case I felt it was a wise choice. The bass has a factory lifetime warranty, and Amazon has a wonderful reputation as a seller. I also had reservations about purchasing a non-domestic instrument, but in order to get the same quality, fit and features I would have paid a lot more. Appearance: A simple and straightforward design, classy but not gaudy. Nice wood tones and the satin finish accentuates the grain. The thru-neck striping really sets the back of the bass off (a shame you can't see more of it from the front). Even though I'm not a fan of gold, the satin gold hardware is understated, and the metal knobs, bridge and tuners look substantial. The bass looks expensive without being pretentious. Feel: It feels smaller than it looks. The body is really quite small (especially in comparison with a Jazz or P-Bass) with deep cutaways and contour cuts. It rests easily on the knee when sitting and balances good with the strap on, with no neck dive. The neck is really thin and 1.5" wide at the nut, with narrow string spacing. It's a nice, fast neck and the satin finish feels good. Sound: Very subjective, but I found with the triple tone and blend controls I could get a big variety of sounds. Fit and setup: The finish was flawless, and the woodwork well fitted and assembled. The metal pieces and fasteners all were neatly and properly attached, and the fretwork was clean and dressed. Out of the box, the neck was straight, the action and intonation properly set and it was even relatively in tune. (down a 1/2 step, but still in tune with itself). It came with two fresh batteries installed and a set of new Ernie Ball strings. Overall impression: I really like this bass. I also own a Fender Jazz, a Precision and a Peavey Foundation. Compared to " the herd" this bass is much lighter and more comfortable. Ergonomically, everything is right where it's supposed to be, The good balance and fast neck make it a pleasure to play. The active preamp lets me dial in the tone I want without having to fiddle with the amp knobs. Lefty basses are not common, and it's nice to find a really decent one that won't break the bank. ... show more

  • A beautiful, playable amazing sounding fretless.
Color: Honey Style: STILETTO STUDIO-4
I switched to Schecter about 15 years ago and never looked back. When I wanted to play a fretless again, I tried quite a few brands more known for that but ended up extremely happy with a Schecter again. Big, full sound (I use flat wound on my fretless but round wound on my electric and acoustic basses) with a neck that's easy to finger. This will eventually become my go-to bass as I get better. ... show more

  • Unplayable.Second one was excellent.
Color: Honey Style: STILETTO STUDIO-4
This is a beautiful instrument that had clearly been returned and repackaged and messed with. I tried to do some minimal adjustments (carefully) and nothing could make the bass playable. Don't appreciate that. I contacted Schecter and the only comment was "disappointing". I am glad that Amazon has the return policy that they do otherwise it would be anathema to buy musical instruments online. Professional luthiers don't come cheap and are rare these days. Just a comment, the reviews on this instrument were excellent but I never got the chance to find out.I recently tried again and ordered another studio 4.This time the guitar was well set up and packed. The satin finish is beautiful and the tuners and knobs are gold and work well.I put flatwounds on and adjusted the neck after 2 weeks. I live in Colorado and have found that it takes at least 2-4 weeks for these neck through guitars to stabilize. The bass now plays very well and I have revised my review accordingly. I also purchased a studio 4 fretless from Amazon. The guitar was perfectly set up and arrived in good order. I think that Schecter basses are excellent value and I am looking at several others. ... show more

  • Quality bass
I have become the proud owner of this great instrument. It has far exceeded my expectations. Changed to flat wound chromes and installed hipshot hi mass bridge (type A). Some complain about the 35hz pups but thats a personal preference.

  • Oh What A Bass!
Nice instrument well crafted/made. It's worth every cent and the color Honey Satin is simply beautiful. Practice, practice, practice if you want to get good. I keep telling myself. You'd have to hold it to fully understand.
