  • Great bass. Great deal.
Color: Vintage Sunburst Style: OMEN EXTREME-4
The first bass that was sent had a bent neck. I sent it back and got another one just in time for my kid's birthday. No fuss, no muss. The return was super easy, and it didn't cost anything to make the exchange. Amazon was even going to have UPS pick it up, but I found it easier to drop it off at the UPS store. The new one was in excellent condition. He loves it. I had to take it to get set up first, of course. You can't expect it to be play ready right out of the box. It has great action. The active pick-ups allow for modern bass sounds and tones. Most of all (and I know this has nothing to do with why you would buy a musical instrument), it looks beautiful. The color is darker than I expected, though. It's more of a tobacco burst than a sunburst, but still beautiful. ... show more

  • Wow! Schecter Basses Never Disappoint.
Color: Vintage Sunburst Style: OMEN EXTREME-4
I have had three Schecter basses before I bought this beauty. For one reason or another. I was always looking for a better bass. Sold my previous three to help buy a Yamaha, a Fender P-Bass, and a Rickenbacker Jetglo,. WELL DAMN! As all of those are fine guitars. They just didn't have the natural feel and ease of playability of the Schecter. The tones one can create with the Omen 4 Extreme are incredible and clean. Equal to or better than my previous said basses. And WOW! When I unpacked this Gal and let the light hit her Sunburst, I was awe struck. Absolutely Gorgeous! The pictures I took do NO justice to her. The craftsmanship is excellent. Built like a tank but not very heavy. The only problem I had was that it was not set-up to play as advertised. It had a fairly bad fret rattle going on. I took it to SoGlo Guitars and Crawford had it playing great in minutes. I also found this "used" hard case for a great price. Is just like brand new and fit's the Omen 4 Extreme like a glove. I will never buy another brand of bass guitar. Schecter Rocks!!! ... show more

  • Schecter Omen Extreme-4 Bass Guitar (Black Cherry, Left Handed)
It has a strong fundamental, and it sounds sweet and plesant from the deepest note to the highest note. That is important to me. Harmonics ring out loud and clear, which is also important to me. I find the sound palette of this instrument to be well suited to all styles of music that I play, and I would imagine it to do well. ... show more

  • Exactly what I expected
This bass is my 3rd Schecter. The quality and craftsmanship are superb. Also being a left handed player most guitar companies DO NOT offer much or any of their line up for lefties. Schecter is truly the exception. They offer just about every model in a left handed version. The Bass arrived well packaged, set up nicely, extremely low action. a quick tuning and it was ready to play. You cannot go wrong with Schecter, the bass plays as well as it looks- Beautiful!!!!!! ... show more

Color: Vintage Sunburst Style: OMEN EXTREME-4
Paint job and workmanship are great, but I had to do quite a bit of tweaking to get rid of the fret buzz. As another reviewer pointed out, you should be prepared to do a complete setup on it. The EQ has a tendency to distort if you turn it up above 50% Ultimately, a good bass for the price, but not perfect. ... show more

  • great value bass if you are able to do the setup yourself
Color: Vintage Sunburst Style: OMEN EXTREME-4
I consider this a budget instrument. It’s easy to pay over $1000 for a fine bass guitar. For about $300 from Amazon (much cheaper than the big online music stores), you’ll get a bass that is good enough to play out with. The action is decent. The tone is good if you are looking for a modern sound. If you want a bluesier, classic rock sound, this isn’t for you. If you want metal, or slap, this works just fine. The tuners work well and are easy to dial in the correct note when tuning. The finish is nice, I am partial to sunburst finishes, this one is pretty. It has a bolt on neck which is typical for the price. When standing and playing, it fits well and is not neck heavy. My other bass is a Thunderbird and is neck heavy, causing it to droop. This droop is not an issue with the Schecter. This is a good value bass if you’re willing and able to do the set up yourself. It came out of the package unplayable because the strings were laying flat against the neck. For the price I paid, I was expecting and OK to have to do the setup. If you intend to purchase this guitar or any other from an online merchant, be prepared to pay to have it setup or learn how to do it yourself. DISCLAIMER: If you do your setup yourself – be very careful, do your research ahead of time because there is plenty of info on the internet on how to do it. You can ruin your guitar if you’re not careful. What did I like? The tone is exactly what I was looking for. I was really impressed with the value. What do I dislike? There really was no setup done at all prior to packaging and shipping. Maybe that is now the norm? My main guitar is an Epiphone Les Paul I bought online (I am a guitar player turned bass player) and all that it needed was tuning out of the shipping box. My only issue was that the Schecter was completely unplayable out of the box. As I said before, I expected to set it up, but it would have been nice to not have to. I wouldn’t have commented on this if it was playable and needed set up, but the fact that there was no setup done at all, I didn’t like that much. After the setup, though, it plays just fine. I would recommend this to a hobbyist, someone looking for a backup bass, or a budget minded player who plays metal or modern rock. For people that gig once a month or so for fun, this bass will work fine. ... show more

What a nice bass for the very modest price I paid for it. A thing of beauty that plays and sounds as good it looks.

Nice bass for the money. Plays well, feels good and the action is great. Bigger dent on the back then described.
