I love the captive hoop. The snap on closure is so much better for me and my preferences than the ball clasp or the horseshoe style type. They are stainless steel color which is my favorite. I wear them every single day and they are holding up perfectly, the various sizes might have been overkill just because I don't use the smallest it the largest sizes but I wanted a variety so I could find my favorite sizes. I use them as lip rings and also earrings for my double lobes. It's extremely intuitive and a breeze to open and close. This rings are amazing! once i put them in and got used to them, they've been in my ears for over 2 months now. But beware! They are not the same size as a regular earring (meaning, they are thicker and as they get bigger in size, same with thickness) so the smallest one was the easiest to put in (i Have 3 piercing on each ear). then the next in size got a little harder and the next one (middle size of all) ouch! so now i have expanded the piercings by a little.. no big deal, but reopening will be a task. The smallest one i had to improvise with some tweezers and expand it at the right angle to hit the hinges right and open them. as they get bigger I guess you can open them with your fingers unless you have long nails, then improvise as i did. Other than that, great buy, will be wearing them for a long time now. side note: they do not rust, didn't leave any green residue like a cheap metal would.

These are a terrific value. I use them in my ears; can't say about piercing in a different location. Treat them gently when you open them. Don't try to insert using the hinged portion. Once in your piercing, gently rotate so the hinge and opening portion are not in your piercing -- keep the strongest part of the earring in the hole. As for gauge, these are not that different from normal posts, but certainly wider than the dainty wires closing many hoop earrings. If your existing piercing holes have healed small, be extra vigilant about scrubbing your hands and sterilizing your ears and earrings (all that extra hand sanitizer we have stuffed in the medicine cabinet can play a useful role here). If redness and pain persist, take the earring out and let the ear heal. Don't try again until your eat <doesn't hurt at all> or look red. Yes, I know, what a pain in the butt. But trust me, infections are like fires. They can seem small and insignificant, because you can't see what's happening underneath. Then they'll suddenly roar into life faster than you can comprehend. You can go from 8 am coffee and catch up telling a work colleague, "It's a little sore, no big deal. And it looks amazing! I always wanted a tragus piercing!" Then lunch at noon. "Arg! This itching is driving me nuts. And my whole ear is so red! I've been putting hand sanitizer gel on it, but it's just drying it out so the itching is worse." At 5 pm, "No thanks, I'm skipping yoga tonight. All I can think of is going to CVS and buying some Neosporin. Then going home and crashing." At 8 pm, you'll be crowd-sourcing. "I'm so miserable. It hurts so bad. It feels like my ear is on fire. Mom said go to the ER. But Chris reminded me I don't have good insurance. The bill will give me a heart attack. What do you think I should I do?" At 2 am, you'll be in an ER exam room. Learning that you'll be taking a 10-day course of oral antibiotics, along with following a special cleaning routine three times each day. And <all> your ear piercings on that side must be removed until your ear totally heals. Which could be six months from now. Or longer. Your new tragus piercing will almost certainly close. The doctor strongly discouraged another piercing try for at least 6 months. A year would be better. Your takeaway from this boring story (which is based on personal experience): No matter how badass you are, following sanitation protocols is IMPORTANT! Wish me luck on my upcoming tragus!!

first, the good: they seem accurate as to sizing, and they are easy to put in and take out, but they don't click apart on their own. they look nice! the black did not seem to be inclined to flake off. next, the not so good, with a disclaimer: they are marketed as STAINLESS steel, not SURGICAL steel. i did not heed this. YMMV. i have sensitive flesh. i put two of them in my (apparently not fully) healed spider bites (dual lip piercings) and boy, was that a mistake! within a day or so they were irritated and a little ouchy. i chalked this up to just the irritation from changing jewelry in a new piercing. they kept ouching though, and bumps started forming. not keloids, they weren't scars! just irritated bumps. so i swapped em back and they stopped hurting. TL;DR make sure you know that your piercing can tolerate stainless steel with plating or anodizing. other than that, they look great and are easy to work with.
