  • Good sound for a little guy
Well, as others have noted, there are no instructions - so here is something that may help. The top mouthpiece goes into the tube with the large back hole near the join. The hook faces down on the back of the instrument. Make sure you turn the mouthpiece so that the opening for the reed is DOWN. The reed should be briefly wetted with clean water - like just a few seconds. Put the brass metal ligature on the mouthpiece, and loosen the screws enough to carefully slide the reed under- center from side to side. I found that my ligature like to have the screws facing left, which is not conventional, but not a big deal. Put the reed in so that the hump is up, and the thin part is a tiny bit away from the end of the mouthpiece. Tighten the screws only enough to hold the reed securely - the screws go UP and the reed goes Down in orientation. Put the sax mouthpiece in your mouth with your tongue touching the reed - purse your lips a little to make an air seal, and BLOW! I just discovered that I had my sax incorrectly assembled with the reed facing up!!!! OMG. I still managed to get a not horrible note, but the amount of air needed was exhausting. So maybe you did the same - Turn the mouthpiece so the reed is DOWN!!!!! Mine was delivered with the mouthpiece facing the wrong way - it moves - so just grab it and turn it. OK - now have fun! Get your self the book " Sax for Dummies" ... show more

  • Fun to learn on but definitely some issues
The copper elbow holding together the neck easily came apart within a couple of days, I had to re-wrap it and push it back together but it still comes back apart, even the glued section. The reads that came with it are all much larger than alto Reed and I didn’t learn this until two months later when I ordered more. Smaller reeds sound much better on it because they fit, but the brass tension clamp is also too large for the smaller reeds. It seems like they got their tension clamps in the wrong size so they just scaled the reeds up so they would still fit; But the miss sized parts definitely made it more of a struggle to learn and get the read to seal. ... show more

  • unplayable
I got this for my nephew who is in the advanced high school band and plays the sax. He is an advanced player and even he could not make more than a squeak out of this thing. the mouthpiece and reeds are just not useful to make a good seal and make any notes. he even tried with another reed that was much better - still the mouthpiece is not constructed or designed well enough to play anything that sounds remotely good. ... show more

  • A Fun Instrument
I bought this for my grand daughter for Christmas and she is very pleased with it. the tonal quality and compactness makes it easy for her to use and take with her when she travels with us. Well worth it and it has much more capability than just a toy, can be very expressive.

  • Fun to learn lots of fun
This is my first reed instrument. It's lots of fun to learn and play with. I would recommend buying a few number 2 reeds as I've found it helps if your learning. Would definitely recommend. Still need to download the app.

  • NO REEDS NO FUN
No reeds .. first instrument ever love the saxophone tho. It'd be nice to have what's needed to actually use it without having to spend extra money and wait even longer. That part sucks. Still excited to learn. It'd be nice if u guys sent me some REEDS. 2 stars until I get em.
