  • Quickly beame my favorite!
Size: Right-Handed Color: Fretted Bass
I own 5 other acoustic bass guitars. I used to work as a salesman for much of my life, and I felt the Rudy Sarzo promotional video was well done propoganda .... unitl I recieved the instrument. Rudy's excitement and seeming surprise on video MAY be real. Because every point he made is VERY legitimate. If you are considering buying one, and want to know what they are like, the viseo is VERY accurate, and pretty much fully on truth and facts. As far as a "thin" sound a couple have mentioned ... It is rich and clean sounding, with enough bottom to be "right" ... any more could become muddy. Yes, the maple is a clear and fast sound, compared to some tone woods, but I find the low "E" to be very rich and resonant. Just not boomy or fat sounding. I compare this to 4 other acoustic basses I own. ALL of them higher end choices. This one has quickly became my favorite to grab. I may even buy the fretless version as well. I also do not understand the comments about it being a lower quality instrument for the money. I feel it is a higher quality instrument for what you pay. Unless you are comparing this to a brand costing over $1500, it is as well made or better than any of my other basses. I was plesanlty surprised with the attention to detal, fit and finish, and professional set up. I bought mine from Amazon, with the knowledge I could return it for free. I found it over exceeded my expectations. Unless you get an instrument drastically different than the one I received, you WILL be happy with it! ... show more

  • Well crafted; a SOLID sound; well worth the price; buy it while it’s affordable
Size: Left-Handed Color: Fretless Bass
The ups man kindly dropped off this bass around 5, and I haven’t put it down since. The sound on my fretless is downright spectacular. It’s gives you plenty of sound and does not sound “thin” at all, rather it gives you that E you always wanted. I could hear a bit of the “breaking bad” theme when I decided to get funky - which you can on this cat-axe. It’s downright sexy. One thing I especially liked was that the big sound and how it surrounded the room - no plug-in necessary - and away you go! I highly recommend you consider this well crafted bass - and good luck finding one at this price. Oh, and the case is solid and well constructed; fits like a glove. I’m happy to have found this lefty fretless. If anything it will be a unique add to your collection, because the beautifully crafted maple gives a rich look overall, with a rustic pinch. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 ... show more

  • Pros/Cons & a Tip
Size: Left-Handed Color: Fretless Bass
First off, this bass is as beautiful as depicted. The hand rubbed finish is rich though I might worry about scratches. The tone very nice and full, comfortable neck action. OK... now... The very first thing I had to do was adjust the truss rod.. the strings were laying flat on the neck (Buzz City) not a big deal but I've bought close to a dozen basses over the years from a couple hundred to several hundred $ each and Never had to do this before. Next up was to change the strings to Rotosound Black Nylon Flatwounds to augment the fretless tone and protect the fretless neck from hard steel. I literally had to take a large push-pin to dig out the stock strings from the bridge, hooking into the bottom of the strings and using the bridge as leverage.. they were stuck inside. Maybe after a few string changes things will 'loosen up"? Next: while the tuning pegs are nicely finished in a complementary color, they aren't as responsive as I would have expected.. a littl slack before action, but once there it holds a tuning fine. The 'on-board' tuner is a nice thought, matches my SNARK in a comparison test, however, unlike the SNARK it does not turn itself off after a few minutes of not using it.. battery drain (3x in as many months) if you forget or bump the button while putting it in the gig bag... maybe they should change to a switch instead of a button. Which brings up the supplied Chromacast Gig Bag.. it seems high quality, nicely padded with plenty of pockets but as the photo shows it is oversized for this bass, easily by 3-4 inches in width, a sloppy fit, which seems strange because it has a Rudy Sarzo signature embossed on it (He helped design the bass, you'd think his gig bag would be a proper fit) I guess someday I'll take it shopping for a properly fitted bag (extra $). Lastly, while the 'bass clef' sound holes are a nice touch there is uneven staining along the inside edges, some edges stained, some raw... not a big deal, I can take a Q-tip and run some stain, but it's a lack of attention to detail on what is otherwise a beautiful (and expensive) bass. Finally, The 'TIP". As of this date, 6/22/22, Amazon offers this at $1,101.42. When I first looked at it in early Jan 22 it was listed at well over $900.00 I couldn't justify ordering it, I looked at it more than a few times in the following weeks, then Amazon notified me that it was temporarily offering it 'on sale' @ $685.66 so I scooped it up. That's a more reasonable price and as such I'm glad I got it. I hope this review helps and I hope SAWTOOTH & Rudy read it to consider corrections. Anyone have suggestions for a replacement gig bag? :-) ... show more

  • Great Bass, awesome customer service
Size: Right-Handed Color: Fretless Bass
It’s sound is definitely unique, a one of those impressive instruments that after tuning is a hitter. Got it with some questions on my part and the seller was quick, responsive and just great a quality product from a trusted seller, what else is needed. Remember that a fretless Bass needs to be played a bit different than a regular one, keep that in mind and you will just get a unique, rich deep sound that will get the attention you don’t expect. ... show more

  • Weird review for Sawtooth Rudy Sarzo Left handed accoustic bass
Size: Left-Handed Color: Fretted Bass
I recieved original order of my left handed Sawtooth bass on Monday 11/9. No gig bag included. I tried to convince the assistant at Amazon to just open another and send me the bag. He was gracious and knowledgeable but the only way I could get the "free bag" was to return the bass, and order another. Okay you win that is what I did. but I used the one that I received for my first music lesson. It is awesome in looks and sound. But now I have a left handed bass and another left hand bass on order and I have discovered that the right handed one is the one I need. ( ambidextious) So now I need to return one left handed bass, recieve the second left handed bass, return it and buy the right handed bass. BUT WAIT-LOW AND BEHOLD---Amazon has made a mistake! they have shipped me a right handed bass in error, and updated the error that says free bag with purchase to read free bag with REGISTRATION! The right handed Sawtooth Rudy Sarzo accoustic bass I received this morning looks amazing, sounds amazing, and is just what I needed! Thanks to Rudy Sarzo and Amazon! ... show more
