I bought two of these in Soft White to replace some open-backed bookshelves from the local blue and yellow store. We had those old shelves since before we were married, and now that our daughter is 3, it was clear that they were really not working for our child's toy and book storage. It really became obvious when I saw the finished product after putting these Sauder units together. They look so sharp and classy, where the old shelves were sloppy and overstuffed. These shelves hold plenty of stuffed animals in the bins, and tons of books on each shelf and don't look like a hot mess toy explosion.They even have a place to hold a label if you have 2 kids and want to keep their toys separated. We have one in the play room and one in her bedroom. Our little one has a lot of stuffed animals and play kitchen stuff, but these shelves hold it all easily, without looking crowded. I put together each unit in about an hour while I streamed a tv show I was pretty interested in. So I wasn't paying 100% attention to building the unit during that hour. But the instructions were very easy to follow and I was able to easily put them together alone during my kid's nap, while my wife took a relaxing bath and ate bon bons (just kidding, she was cleaning the house). The most labor intensive part was putting the nails in on the back portion, and that's just because there were a lot of nails and not a lot of room for error. These units are made of "engineered wood," but they feel pretty solid and do not feel rickety at all, unlike some of those blue and yellow shelves, which are just as if not more expensive than this, and these are delivered to your door. I'm very happy with these units because they are sturdy, and the assembly process did not make me want to declare war on Sweden.

I absolutely love this chest. It is a replacement for a cheap tall chest that we had for about 3 years before it became totally unusable, and it just reinforces how good Sauder has become at making furniture that is sturdy and easy to put together. While my old chest required drilling new holes for door glides and moderate woodworking skills to make all the pieces fit together correctly, this chest goes together in a snap and is sturdy and aligned without any adjustments needing to be made by the consumer. This piece is also much heavier and sturdier than the other chest that I bought. While this makes it harder to move and topple, this also means that you absolutely NEED to anchor this furniture to the wall because it would cause serious injury if it falls over. I do not count this as a negative, however, since all tall chests should be anchored anyways. My one complaint with this chest is that it does not have mid-drawer supports to keep the bottom of the drawers from breaking or popping out. This has not been a problem yet, but I have had problems with other chests that do not have the extra strip of wood reinforcing the drawer bottoms. This is countered by not having any drawers at a level where a toddler can climb into the drawers. The bottom bin, which is great for shoes, socks, and other accessories, or as toy storage if you do not need more clothes storage, does create a natural climbing ledge, which, again, really means that this chest can not be safely left unsecured from the wall. I have had great luck with http://www.amazon.com/Safety-1st-Furniture-Wall-Straps/dp/B00ANJLSTA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1430425152&sr=8-1&keywords=furniture+strap . It secured the first chest for 3 years, and it was easy to use the same strap, still anchored into the stud, for the second chest. While this may seem to encourage climbing the drawers, it actually allows the child to reach the stuff on top of the dresser without having to climb in drawers, which is nice as long as you have the chest secured to the wall. To be sure, this is not a piece of fine furniture, but it is also designed for children and very reasonably priced. For what you are paying the look, finish, and functionality of this chest are absolutely fantastic.

This is an AMAZING dresser! It took all of three hours of me putting it together (a 33 week pregnant woman!), who during a bout of insomnia, caught up on some DVR'd shows while getting this together. The directions were really well written, and despite the unboxing process to be a bit tedious (it is HEAVY), it was a cinch to assemble. The only funny thing I noticed, was the back panels (literally, the ones that are on the back of the dresser) aren't clearly marked as to which way to put them. Mine ended up with the unfinished side in the front (only noticeable if you take out a drawer, or you look really well when the bottom toy storage is empty) but it's not a problem, whatsoever. It is HUGE! My four year old can open all of the drawers, but can only easily get things in and out of the bottom drawer. He would need a stepstool to reach the middle drawer, and I doubt he could reach the top. My six year old, on the other hand, can easily access the middle and bottom drawers, but would need help getting to the top. The drawers themselves are really deep, and can fit a LOT of clothing! That makes up for the unaccessability for my son, BUT when his first reaction to the storage at the bottom was, "Wook, Momma! A spot for my spaceships!" I think it's a win, as it can grow with him. The drawers were a bit finiky to mess with (as you have to adjust them after you're done assembling it) but, overall, I know we'll be buying another one of these for my daughter! Thanks Sauder for making such a cute and functional dresser! *Edited to add** Over a year later, STILL love this!! Haven't gotten the second for my daughter yet, but this thing has TAKEN some abuse and still looks and functions like it's brand new!!

Great product, very sturdy. I purchased this after reviewing several similar toy boxes. Overall, the assembly was easy and I was able to do it myself (with multiple interruptions) in about 2 hours. We easily filled one of the bottom boxes with baby tolls and stuffed toys. We used one of the top shelves for some board books with a small fabric bin next to it - perfect fit! I used the other top shelf for a wicker basket to hold larger or bulkier toys like wooden puzzles and magnetic dress up dolls. The last bottom bin is filled with smaller, random toys. It's a lot of storage space, which is great, but I almost with it were 3 spaces wide, instead of 2, so I could better categorize the contents of each bin. Inside of the bottom boxes, there is a gap between the bottom of the horizontal shelf and the back of the angled/scalloped shelf. It's hard to explain, but we've lost a few tiny trinkets down the gap already. Not a deal breaker, but I wish the bottom shelf extended all the way to the adjacent piece. Another con is that this product does not come with wall anchors. I know this is meant to possibly be a footboard, but for using as a stand alone toy box, you will need to purchase wall anchors separately. I do not feel that this is secure enough to not anchor and I do not anchor ANYTHING in my home. I know, without a doubt, this would topple over if my three year old attempted to climb it. Overall, good quality, but I would probably not purchase again at the +/- $100 price I paid.

Being on a budget, we have ordered many "assembly on arrival" pieces. This dresser was ordered for a bedroom that is 50% baby boy nursery and 50% 2 year-old toddler princess sanctuary. The neutral white color worked well, and the bottom area for books and toys is a great storage solution. All the pieces were in good condition, no scratches or chips like these usually have. The piece was fairly easy to assemble, and went together very sturdy. Mind you, this isn't a 500 dresser... it's still MDF board held together by glue and screws. That being said, the assembly was smarter than others we've done. One of my irritations on these types of pieces is that usually after a bit of wear the drawer slides don't line up and the drawers don't slide in and out well. I don't think that will be the case with this piece. The hardware for the drawer slides is made in a way that I can tell the drawers slide in and out smoothly and the wheel tracks engage with each other well - I think they will hold up. Also, there is a screw adjustment that allows for a height re-alignment that I've never seen before - and it works like a charm. I'm not sure why there's a little file-drawer looking label on it - maybe to put a kids name or item tag over the bin storage area? I'd rather it wasn't there, but it doesn't hurt anything. The measurements provided are accurate. The drawers are not very deep and it's not real wide, but it was actually the perfect fit for the space we have. I like the little scalloped edge touches, it adds to it's appeal. If I had one complaint it would be the drawer bottoms - they are the usual, thinner (almost bendable) type. I paid about slightly under one hundred fifty and no shipping - for the price I think it's a good piece and I'm very happy with my purchase.

This went down to a GREAT price so I couldn't resist it. I was a little skeptical about ordering it due to a few of the reviews saying it arrived damaged. I know damage to a product during transit isn't necessarily the companies fault - but - mine arrived PERFECTLY. No dings, scratches, etc. The instructions were very easy to follow - all pieces were included and easily labeled for easy reference. I put this together in a little over an hour - and that's including trying to keep the baby away from it. I needed help just once when lifting it up. I only made one mistake and that was making sure the label holders were screwed on the correct way (make a note of that - if they are on upside down, the labels will fall out on the bottom, haha!). It's sturdy, it's beautiful! It's definitely white though - not sure why they label it soft white. It's a bright white, for sure. It holds quite a bit. I do wish they would include wall anchors in this though. My daughter loves to keep her baby dolls in this and we *try* to keep books on it ... however, our little Meatball baby loves to pull them off constantly. GREAT quality, would rate it 10 stars if I could.

I purchased this after buying several other pieces of furniture from the same company. This item didn't disappoint. It was super easy to put together, didn't take me more than 30 minutes to get it fully assembled. The thing to remember about Sauder products is that they follow very tedious, exact steps to get a perfect finished product. If you carefully follow all instructions, you will have a nice finished piece. If you get bored or deviate at all, you're in trouble. Follow instructions and you'll end up with a piece of furniture that looks much more expensive than it was. Now for the actual product- the shelves are very spacious....definitely enough room for books or board games and puzzles, (which is what we have on it). The bins are much bigger than they look which is a DEFINITE plus- sometimes I swear toys materialize out of thin air at our house...so having lots of storage is key. This is in our "playroom" which happens to be our formal living room hahaha. So while its filled with toy and games, at least the furniture looks nice! I would definitely buy a second one to hold even more stuff and line them right up next to each other. We've had a few people over since putting it out, and everyone has commented on how nice it looks and how expensive it looks. (Score for me!!) Overall, I recommend this product for anyone looking for good storage for children's items but that also looks classy!!!

I am usually pretty happy with everything I get from Amazon and rarely write reviews. I had to post a review on this. I ordered the first one and it arrived in excellent shape, my husband put it together pretty quickly, looks great and will hold a ton of stuff. We ordered another one a couple weeks later to add more storage space and I was so sad that the top part arrived cracked and chipped. I was thinking how on earth am I ever going to ship this 80#+ beast back to amazon etc etc? I had a thought of calling the manufacturer, Sauder. The 800 # is printed on the instruction booklet. I called them at like 8pm and was directed to go to thier website. People-literally about 5 mouse clicks resulted in Sauder mailing me FREE of charge, Free of hassle a replacement for the top portion that was cracked. I completed the online request on Wed and got confirmation that it had shipped today. I am so impressed with the simplicity of the requesting and receiving the replacement piece I just can't get over it. Nothing is that simple. But this was. So my new replacement piece will arrive in a couple days, and i'll be able to put it together no worries. So just know if you order from here, and your piece happens to be cracked, you can get a replacement piece for free and in short order from Sauder. The thing was packaged very well and our first one arrived w/o a mark! Anyway, just wanted to share--super cute storage piece, looks great, and the customer service from Sauder knocked my socks off!
