Large, heavy, and you will require help with assembly (moving this around while assembling, and holding large parts in place during attachment). Just a forewarning, not a complaint. The desk is quite nice, has ample storage, and decent shelving. You are not going to put a library in it, but the space is quite adequate. It is pressed wood, but hides that fact very well.     • Beautiful and Sturdy Desk for a Great Price!
I was skeptical about purchasing a desk for my room now that I am fully working from home, because most of the ones I've seen look very flimsy or are too small for my needs. I took a chance with this desk and couldn't be more happier with my purchase! The desk is beautiful and very sturdy; it looks very sharp and sophisticated for the price. There is plenty of shelf, cabinet, and drawer space to store multiple laptops, connections, cables, office supplies, etc. The hutch on top is tall and does not sway with added weight from items stored on top. The only gripe I had was with the assembly, as it took a half of a day to assemble and set up by myself. If you have a couple people working on it, I am sure it would go much more quickly and smoothly, but it was quite the chore by myself. Other than that, I am very happy with this desk and will be using it for years and years to come! ... show more

PROS: 1. Well written instructions (for assembly) - Even though the instructions say you don't need a power drill, you can use one. My drill has adjustable torque settings, so I used it on the lowest torque setting. Pre-drilled holes, no parts missing. No problems with assembly. 2. Really great packaging. I ordered two of these, and they both arrived undamaged. 3. Almost 60" long, so plenty of space and cubbyholes. CONS: 1. It's made from particle....."engineered wood". So keep this in mind when you are moving/assembling/etc. 2. Uses cam locks and bolts for the majority of the joints. Once the cam lock is turned, they expand a little plastic knob that holds onto the particle board/joint. I'm not a fan of this type of fastener, but it seems most furniture of this type has this system. Keep this in mind when moving the desk both during and after assembly. 3. No padding on the bottom of the desk. I added self-stick felt strips on the bottom of the desk. Make adjusting the desk a breeze. Overview. If your need more space, and don't plan on moving it around (a great deal) this product will suit your needs. Just keep in mind, it is not a solid wood desk, so you do have to be somewhat patient when putting it together. Be sure you give your self plenty of time as you don't won't to "rush" through the assembly. ... show more

Here are a couple pointers. although the instructions are pretty easy to read, there were a couple things I discovered upon assembly. When you see the roller bars, look inside the bar itself and you will see the numbers needed for like the drawers or keyboard roller shelf so you will know for sure which one goes to which drawer and what not. One downside to this is that the bottom of the drawer is a heavy cardboard vs actual wood. It would also be nice if they could reverse the sides the drawers are on. This would have been perfect for what I wanted if you could build a mirror image of this desk. also, surprisingly I was able to build this myself. mind you I'm almost 60 with a rod in my back, a metal ball in my left shoulder. and I have a left hand with nerve damage. I still on my own was able to put this together myself and lift and flip it (carefully of course) and overall, it came out pretty good. took me a few to figure out the drawers and the little metal circle that allows you to either raise or lower so then close correctly. I've owned Sauder before, and it's always done the job needed. I did have a couple small chips on a couple pieces one being the pull-out keyboard shelf. other than that, it will do perfectly. I bought some sliders to put under the desk so I will be able to pull it out when I need to. my old one had wheels. time will tell. ... show more

    • Assembly can be tedious, take your time.

Once you are finished you have a beautiful piece of furniture that you can be proud of. I learned a lot. Work where you have lots of space. Read the instructions start to finish before you start. It would have helped me to do that. Having a second person on hand to help when needed will be beneficial. First as you unpack your desk from the cartons organize the pieces alphabetically. You won't put it together a to z but when you need a piece you will be able to find it easily. Some markings can be difficult to read. Take your time and compare each piece with the diagrams in the book. There are many instructions that say, "Surface with hidden Cams" or "Surface WITHOUT hidden Cams". Pay attention. It may appear to be overwhelming, but these few tips should help you. ... show more
