I've assembled A LOT of things like this before and I must say it was VERY HARD to get it squared-up, or properly aligned. You measure diagonally across a large rectangle like this and constantly 'tweek' thing to get is even. It was nearly impossible! And the little nails that they give you to attach the back? They are supposed to hold the back on tight, and provide stability and keep it squared up. I had to go to the hardware store and buy little Phillips head screws to use. They pulled the back board tight to the frame, and made it sturdy. The nails simply would not, and let it rock side to side. If I was smart, I would have added some carpenters wood glue to the back. BUT, with the unit squared up and tight, one of the shelved was a bit too long. It had to be tapped down into position. It should have been sanded to the right length but I had enough time into this assembly and was tired of working on it. Definitely a two person job too! ... show more

Moved from a huge house with tons of bathroom storage space to a very small house with very little space for all that bathroom stuff. Bought this for storage and it’s a lot bigger than I imagined it would be. Plenty of room for everything. Well made and easy to put together. Make sure you have a screw driver with a long skinny arm or you won’t be able to put the legs on. We had to go buy one. ... show more

I needed storage for my canned goods from our garden and fruit orchards. This product arrived faster than expected. As we opened it I told my husband that it was the best wrapped item like this I had ever received. Then I found one support brace that was broken. It was a Saturday, so their helplines were not open. I went online and ordered the replacement piece and received it in exactly 7 days. The assembly directions are much better than most, but we were working in a confined space. My husband also always grumbles no matter what he is doing. I am very pleased with the product. It's not super high quality, but is perfect for what I needed. Please remember when you order a Sauder product it's made in the USA. That is a plus in my book!! ... show more

I don’t have a pantry so I got these to use in my small kitchen. They’re beautiful and offer a lot of storage. The only con is that it weighs over 100 lbs and I’m single so it took me a while to put it together. However, Sauder did a great job with the instructions, they were clear and easy to follow. I only have about 5 cabinets in my kitchen and not much storage at all. I ordered 3 of these. They weren't the easiest to assemble, but got it done and they look great. They actually hold quite a bit and the shelves are adjustable. The only thing I don't like is that the doors have a gap in between them as shown in photo. They can't be adjusted anymore than they are and you can see space where the doors meet when they're closed. Other than that I like them a lot! ... show more

I bought a Hodedah and had to return it for several reasons. I bought two, assembled one, and returned both with one unopened. In the past, I have found that Sauder products, although pretty cheap in quality (and price) for the money are fairly sturdy, have decent instructions, are fairly easy to put together, and are worthwhile. This cabinet, of which I bought two, is a little better than what I remember Sauder cabinets to be. It seems they have made some improvements over the years. I don't like the styrofoam in the packing, but it was packed well. Upon opening the carton the instructions were on top as was the bundle of parts, each part sealed in its labeled cell. Easy to do an inventory of pieces and parts. You get the exact number of parts needed in the instructions with the exception if 1" nails (tacks) for mounting the chipboard (cardboard) back of which you need 40, but they give you some extra. The only tools needed are a small hammer and a standard Phillips head screwdriver. The predrilled holes were all where they were supposed to be and in proper alignment. I put together one cabinet by myself and with the other I had help. It goes pretty quickly if you're doing it all by yourself, but much more quickly if you have another person working with you. The hardest part for one person alone is hanging the doors, but it's doable. You just position the top hinge and partially screw in the mounting screws. then you do the middle hinge, then the bottom hinge, all partially screwed in. Once all are on, then tighten all of the mounting screws. I think bottom to top on the tightening is best, but it doesn't really matter. With two people one holds the door in place while the other screws in the hinges. Much easier than holding the doors yourself while screwing them on, but it's not essential that you have help. For all of the rest of the busywork, it just goes twice as fast with two people doing it. It pays to also have some damp paper towels to wipe off the styrofoam dust that clings to the surfaces of all of the pieces. I like to wipe them down before assembly and touch it up afterward, but many people might not care. I would have preferred that the back of the cabinet was particle board like the rest of the cabinet rather than heavy chipboard and that the top was finished. It is made with the assumption that the top will not be visible, so that surface is unfinished. If, however, you have it in a room where you can look down on it at all the unfinished top will stand out and reveal that it is a cheap piece of furniture. The door hinges have three adjustments so you can get them positioned well once it is all assembled and in place. That is a bit of a chore, but not any more so for this cabinet as it is for any other piece of furniture of any quality that allows for door adjustment. The fact that it has the adjustment is a plus. So for a self-assembly cabinet in this class of furniture, Sauder is probably the best you're going to find. This goes for any other furniture they make. In the past, I have purchased and built various Sauder products and they are always equal to or better than the same/similar products manufactured by their competitors. I needed some additional storage for my laundry room and found this unit online. It had good ratings/reviews. The unit was inexpensive. The materials were consistent with the price point (particle board, cardboard backing, etc), but that was fine for my intended use. I had set aside an entire day to assemble the unit. Much to my surprise it only took me about an hour to complete and I don’t recall any cuss words being dropped! 😂 The directions were pretty decent and all the hardware came individually packaged as well as labeled. It made the job a lot easier. I will caution you not to misplace any of the hardware because you aren’t given extra. All the various boards were also well labeled! The only part of the assembly process that was a tad tricky was hanging the doors. Getting the doors even at the top as well as the spacing between the two doors in the middle took me playing around a bit to get it how I wanted it. After ordering the unit I was a little concerned it wouldn’t be big enough, but it had more space than I anticipated. All in all I was pleasantly surprised by the unit and would recommend it to others. ... show more
