The media could not be loaded. Oh my goodness, where are my hot chocolate and marshmallows? This is one of those comfort things that you just want to sit in front of with a warm blanket, a good book, maybe even a good movie. The electric fireplace puts off enough heat to warm my living room, and keep my furnace from heating up the bedroom. But that’s OK I like to sleep in a cold bedroom. This thing has plenty of storage. Which is obvious in the picture. We have all kinds of stuff shoved in the area that most people would put video game systems. I’m old, so no video games for me. I suppose at some point in time I might put a DVD player in one of those openings. This unit does come with a remote for the fireplace insert. You can adjust the flames depending upon the amount of light that you want it to put out. There’s no adjustment for heat you either have the heat on or the heat is off, it does not have a thermostat. It is not meant to be a main source of heat anyway. As far as the assembly goes, it’s probably a lot easier to put together if you have two people, I cannot imagine trying to put this together by myself. It takes patience and time to decipher the instructions. I will caution you to make sure that when you put the little screw things in the wood, you need to make sure they go in straight. If they go in cockeyed, you’re going to have trouble getting it together. Just ask my husband. We had to back more than one out of the wood and re- attach it straighter, in order to get it to fit together correctly. I’m still giving at five stars because, even though it was a pain to put together, the end product is phenomenal. ... show more

    • Some bad parts. Bad drilling. Poor fit.
I have bought other pieces in this line, both bookcases that were simple to assemble and a good value for the money. This piece had a main part that was missing numerous pre-drill holes for where the bolts screw in. Had to request a new one for that. That was not the end of the problem. The electric fireplace part was noisy and malfunctioning. It took three chat sessions to resolve, including my having to send a video (!) to Sauder to show what the problem with the part was. That was a first. I was also told that the fireplace part was "out of stock," presumably because the ones being sold were junk and needed to be replaced. Still waiting for the delivery of the replacement fireplace part. ... show more

This cabinet was easy to put together for one person. The only trouble I had was when I inserted the fireplace, the holes do not line up quite right and I still can't put one of the screws in. I'm also disappointed in the fireplace itself for the price I paid for it it should have looked better. When cheaper fireplaces look more real, this one should have been better looking. I'm also disappointed with the heat element, you can't adjust it and it doesn't light up. I would not recommend this fireplace unless you can find a different insert. The media could not be loaded. I think that we are going to enjoy this fireplace console. It puts out some pretty adequate heat for us. It is very nice and it looks better in person than in pictures. I ordered this from Amazon and received it in a decent time frame. The box was torn on the end but nothing inside was damaged. It was packed very well. The media could not be loaded. Takes 5 hours to put together. It barely fits 60 inch. Its like on the edge. Is looks nice in overall pic. Way to small for and tv over 49 inchs. Now the comtrol to fireplace doesnt work and the heat doesnt either and only had it for a week. Update: it does work and covered a few defects. I’ve actually had it years now. Still Works. Not the control. That never worked. I’ve changed my mind about this product. It also heats my room well During winter. Still 5 years later! ... show more

Following instructions, it's easy to assemble just takes some time and patience and a helpful pair of hands at the end. The weird noise mentioned by others is noticible but can be fixed we hope by straightening the bent housing on the back of the unit. Update later....
