Purchased this desk from Amazon rather than direct from Sauder due to the Amazon customer service in case a return was needed. It was delivered when promised and came in 2 very heavy boxes. The 2 Amazon delivery guys put the boxes in my garage for me so I could unpack it there and then carry the pieces into the house at my leisure. Both boxes were packed very well to prevent damage. There were corner boards on all the edges and then the boxes were each wrapped in heavy plastic. Upon opening and unboxing, I didn't find any damage at all. It was in perfect condition. After bringing in all of the pieces and laying them out, following the directions was pretty easy. All hardware was in it's own section on a large plastic sheet and was clearly marked. As alway, make sure you read the page you are on and even the next page before each step. It was basically a one person job but I did get some help when it came time to attach the hutch to the desktop. By that time the unit was getting heavy. I also needed the help to lay the desk on it's front in order to nail in the cardboard backing. Once everything was put together, it all lined up near perfectly, including the drawers and cabinet door. There are adjustments that can be made to help line everything up but I didn't need to use them. The finished product looks a lot nicer than in the picture. It is big but not overbearing to look at. We liked this so much we also ordered the matching lateral file to use as a TV stand. We have been buying Sauder furniture since the 80s due to the quality, style and value. This is probably the best piece we ever purchased from Sauder (via Amazon). ... show more

This desk with hutch is larger-scale and looks very very nice for the money. It has a presence to it, it makes a big statement in a room. The materials are very nice and it looks like a desk that would cost 2-3 times the price. It is a challenging build, but be mindful of the details, take your time, having a helper is a must, and pay attention to the directions (they are written very well and it's important to follow the manufacturer's steps for all pieces to fit together properly). If you have any reservations about building this, pay extra for assembly. The curado cherry finish is closer to a medium/dark walnut with just a hint of red. Very impressed with quality of design and materials from Sauder, very happy with this desk. ... show more

Pandemic project: replaced 3 pieces of “ office furniture from last home. 70 year old female, did need help uprighting it. Shame it was not made of real wood😢 For materials used, does look attractive. All screw pre drilled holes lined up well, but one (which did bubble small area of vinyl side cover slightly but will not be viewable due to location. Directions could use an update, especially since are 3 sliding drawer guides. Some parts are etched, stickered & marker written on hand on edges. A shaded back/ fronts would be helpful. Panel A was tricky to line up, loosened twist lock fasteners to fit flush with other panels. The adjustments for a smooth fit of the file drawer, still needs vertical and horizontal hinge adjustments to close Left back vinyl cardboard panels off as it does look more attractive . Manufacturers said was important to attach it, but is no structural reason for structural integrity. IMac does fit well into left and Canon multifunctional printer nicely on right. My biggest complaint is that the computer & file drawer are on the same side. I have to push out my chair and move to within reach of the file drawer because it is at the far right. Another problem I had was the area where the monitor is placed. I mounted a surface light above the monitor under the extra storage spaces. I now have a light that glares in my eyes. Also, I can not align the file drawer to fit properly. An older model I had, had a piece in front about 1.5 inches down to block the glare of any mounted lights. Finally, the top drawer is 2 inches shorter in width forcing me to buy a new drawer organizer. Their older model, which is discontinued, was a much better model and was worth every penny. Its hard to believe that they replaced it with a sub standard desk. Just something to think about before you buy. If you can tolerate the poor surface construction and have long arms and sun glasses along with forcing the file drawer closed I would recommend this desk, otherwise find another. ... show more

I put this together myself and for the most part had no problems. Most pieces are labeled and the instructions from Sauder were wonderful, even a bit humorous with little images and notes telling you it's a great time for a snack and to take a break LOL. There was one super small imperfection on the corner where the the laminate was a little scratched, but one of those touch up markers from Home Depot fixed that. I did have to have my husband help me to lift it once the hutch was on. I also paid the extra money to have Amazon deliver to the location of my choice, which I would highly recommend. I never would have been able to get the boxes inside on my own and even the individual pieces were quite heavy, so it was well worth the extra $20 for that. The delivery drivers called me in advance, were extremely polite and respectful of my property. The only thing I wish was different is that the ledge underneath where I wanted to put my surge protector doesn't have a wide enough gap for the cord to go through so I would need to get another surge protector if I wanted it there - for now it's just on top of the hutch, which works fine for me. ... show more

    • Easy to assemble and an eye catcher!

Many complained about assembly but I don't put together many things and the directions were step by step, not multiple steps in one. I recommend a second person helping but I did it all by myself in a few hours. It comes in two shipments so don't panic like I did, it will all show up. It is just a lot of heavy material to be shipped. The wood was nice, a few Knicks here and there but not where it's noticeable. It definitely stands out and I have had many compliments on it.
