    • Nice unit but be Very Careful with Assembly

This is a nice looking unit for the price and has decent structural integrity. Overall the instructions are very good but there are some things you need to be careful about. The shelf/base pieces are labeled with white stickers so you don’t wrongly place them during assembly – the problem is that not all the pieces have white ID stickers, one or two have the ID code inked on the rough side of the board (so don’t panic, now you know). Next the bottom base has a finished and unfinished edges (Back and front). Intuition tells you the finished edge faces front – It does not (at least in my case) and doing so will mess up your assembly. In my case the rough edge faces front (but no worry it gets covered over in a later step). Lastly for some crazy reason the top base support board is not fastened to the side panels (unlike the lower support base which is attached to sides). I used my own side brackets to secure the top base to the side panels to avoid gaps and give better structural integrity. The instructions even mention lifting up the unit without the fastening the backing on the unit may cause the entire unit to collapse, YIKES (its only because the top base is not attached to the side panels). Over all I’m very pleased and the wood look of the shelves is very realistic (not sure if its wood veneer or not). Took me about 3.5 hours to assemble, but could of been less had I not encountered the above issues. ... show more

I ordered 2 of these. One arrived with damaged box which damaged the part inside (see pictures). Good thing it was in the inside of the bookshelf. The instructions were easy to follow and I installed the entire bookshelf with almost no help. Took me about 2 hours to assemble each. The back seems like it wasn't cut correctly because no matter how I adjusted it, it wouldn't square on the back of the cabinet. There's always a corner sticking out or a corner not lining up to the corner of the cabinet at all (almost falling inside the shelf). The doors are the same kind of nightmare to adjust. Doors seem too small for the size of the shelf. They are never straight however I adjust them. If I adjust horizontally so there's not an enormous gap in the middle (between the doors) then the gap on the top corner next to siding becomes even bigger (it's already a big gap to begin with. And the gap is ONLY ON ONE CORNER) bottom is fine. The right side door is even worse! There's a huge gap between the top left corner (next to left door) and the top shelf. But crazy thing is, the gap between the right door and the siding is perfect. If i adjust the door up to lessen the gap between the top left corner and shelf on top of it, it widens the gap between this door and the siding. These issues are the same with the 2nd bookshelf. I think it is really a manufacturer's issue. If you look at the pictures, that's basically the best I can do. Any more adjusting and those gaps becomes wider and doors become more uneven. ... show more

I bought two of these shelves along with the file cabinet (pictured) and L-shaped desk. All the pieces look beautiful in my home office. Luckily I didn't have any issues with pieces being broken. I was able to assemble them myself and just needed help lifting them and moving them into place (I probably could have USED help for assembly, but I'm stubborn, persistent and impatient!). The instructions, unlike some were super easy to follow, and funny! The shelves are a little inconsistent through. On one, the doors have a gap, but line up perfectly. On the other, there is no gap, but they don't quite line up, no matter how much I adjust. I've assembled A TON of this style of furniture over the years, so I'm accustomed to little quirks, but this stuff isn't cheep anymore, so it would be nice if they quality control was a little better. I bought 2 of these for my office and I absolutely love them. I would have given them 5 stars but there are a couple of issues. Some of the side boards had chips in them. 1 board cracked when I was tightening one of the screws. The doors were a pain in the butt to hand straight. Finally, the white caps that go into the screw holes do NOT fit at all. The screws have straight line gaps but the caps have a round post that will not fit in. Even with these issues I still gave it 4 stars because they truly are beautiful. Easy to put together and the instructions are very clear. ... show more
