I've just started my trail running journey and I'm so glad I got these. I mostly do road running and thought my regular running Saucony shoes would work, and I was so wrong. So I purchased these trail shoes and was thoroughly impressed. My first race was a muddy, rainy cold one and they performed amazingly. I didn't slip even one time during the whole 5 miles. Each step I took with confidence knowing I would remain upright. It took so much worry out of my run, I was able to focus so much better. You can see from the picture I was not gentle with them, and they took everything that was thrown at them. These shoes just further cemented my loyalty to the brand. On a side note they do tend to run a little narrow, if you have wide feet they may not work for you.

The sole on this shoe has good grip and the upper is well-stitched and comfortable. The are only two things I don't love about this shoe - there is a little extra cushion on the back of the heel on the upper that rubs a tiny bit on my Achilles tendon - it hasn't caused a problem but I suspect if I hiked a long hike it might start to bug me. The other thing is that the heel is a little more elevated than I would like - I would prefer a flatter, more level shoe bed vs. a slight heel rise.

I loved these shoes, but wore them out. When I went to re-order the same pair, either they were no longer available in my size (8.5 wide) or were discontinued. I bought a different black pair but do not like them NEARLY as much as I loved these!!! Should've bought 1/2 dozen to ensure I had enough for my lifetime!

I bought these and the Hoka Torrent to compare. I ended up keeping the torrent and returning these because they seemed a bit too narrow for my feet. The torrent has a wider toe box. These were really light and liked to have good lugs. I think they would work just fine and great for the price, I was just afraid they would be too narrow for my feet and cause hot spots. The torrents were $30 more but I’ll pay that for no blisters.
