Cleaning simply requires washing with kitchen detergent and rinsing with cold water. This unit is made from the finest available Italian 18/10 stainless steel under the best possible quality controlled conditions. All joints are tag(tungsten inert gas) welded to insure completely smooth interior and exterior surfaces to prevent matter accumulation. The first one I got had a broken handle,the TIG weld was not good. And it was missing the plug where the spigot goes. So they sent me a replacement, very fast service and very good. But it does not have a plug either. It is shown in the photos on Amazon with both a plug and a spigot. I asked if I could purchase one,but have not heard back. Otherwise it was a beautiful fustis. I love it ,it doesnt leak at all, and I drink more water now. I will install it in my Sprinter van. Great service! ... show more

So pleased with the quality of the unit itself. I will say that the plastic stand is disappointing in that the tank doesn't sit flush in it so it wobbles, but I'm less concerned about that.

EDIT: CHANGING TO 1 STAR - SEVERAL AREAS HAVE RUSTED Giving two stars because there is no plastic that comes in contact with water. The gasket does not fit - it is far too big. Huge problem for preventing anything from entering and potentially spoiling a lot of liquid, oil, or whatever else you use it for. The other issue is that the spigot is not welded, meaning bacteria will eventually form, again compromising the quality and cleanliness of your liquid. Last, the handles come off extremely easily, so we don't use them at all, making this container a pain to carry around. *************** *************** When I first purchased this item, there were substantially more negative reviews.
