Frequently asked questions

A 'Renewed' Samsung Galaxy S21 5G is a pre-owned device that has been refurbished and inspected to work and look like new. It should come with limited or no wear, and its performance is tested to meet factory standards. Renewed products typically come with a warranty, but this can vary by seller.

The US Version of the Samsung Galaxy S21 5G is designed to be compatible with US carriers and may not support all network bands used by international carriers. It's important to check with your carrier for compatibility before using it internationally.

An 'Unlocked' Samsung Galaxy S21 5G means that it isn't tied to any specific carrier and can be used with any GSM or CDMA network that supports its wireless bands. This provides flexibility to switch carriers or use local SIM cards while traveling abroad.

The 256GB storage option provides ample space for apps, photos, videos, and other content, which can help maintain the device's performance by preventing storage-related slowdowns. However, it has no direct impact on the processing speed or graphics performance of the phone.

Should I Buy It?

However, be prepared to thoroughly check the phone's condition and functionality upon arrival, especially with regards to the unlock status and any signs of overheating. With most users reporting a positive experience, it could be a smart buy with minor caveats to consider.

  • Definitely what I was hoping for
I am always leery about buying used electronics. You never know if you get the one that was barely used, and the person is just a serial upgrader every time a new model comes out. OR, if the item was traded in because it was malfunctioning, and wasn't spotted before being resold. Not the issue here so far. Tested every feature that I would actually use and it runs smoothly and quickly. From a full charge in the morning before I go to work, and with moderate usage throughout the day, it is generally down to about 80% by the time I go to bed (usually between 1:30 and 2:00am). I am upgrading from a much earlier model Galaxy and the camera (both still and video) quality is spectacular comparatively. Particularly in low light. Verizon SIM card transferred over without issues and that Samsung transfer app was a God send for getting all of my stuff (including pix, wifi passes, etc.....) over to the new phone. The lack of an SD slot makes me a bit nervous, but this one is the 256 gig model so hopefully, I won't have to do much relocating of files, images and videos over to my PC with the space that there is on here. Physically, the phone was in pretty good shape. Though there were a few minor scuffs on the back, the glass for the screen AND the camera lenses were flawless. And, I always use a case/holster anyway, way back since the old flip phone days. So, I will never actually SEE the body of the phone anyway. All in all, up to this point, I feel like the investment was good. There is 90 days worth of warranty so if I stumble across something that is a deal breaker, I can return it. If you are looking for a phone that won't cost as much as a cheap automobile, this "renewed" option may be something you can look in to. I will be trying it again when it is time to make another upgrade. ... show more

  • Huge upgrade from my previous phone
I used to have a Galaxy S8 active until I sadly drowned it on accident, I set out to find a goof quality phone that wouldn't break the bank, and this was spot on. It has a great camera quality, and even has the ability to take .5 photos which I was always jealous of other people for being able to do, it's sleek with all the cameras to one side which gives plenty of space to hold or grab the phone at. I haven't noticed it running too hot unless it's an abnormally hot day, or running a very processor heavy app or program. The phone came in great condition, with only some very minor cosmetic damages on the back of the phone, but all functuons worked great, and none of the screens or cameras were cracked. All visible damage is covered by any case I've used. The battery life is pretty good, of course you can stretch it or run it faster depending on what apps you're using, I am usually able to get through a whole day at work starting at 6:30, and ending at 4, without needing to charge it, of course if I am watching videos or playing music, the battery will be used a bit more than if it's just locked not doing anything. ... show more

  • Amazon has no idea what customers actually receive- answer from customer support
Positive surprised about how it looks. Update: Just returned it and I am out $83 for shipping it back. Never again! Randomly shuts down. 2 days it works and crashes again. I had to reset it many times. Contacted even Samsung. Answer? Ship it back. No idea how Mobile Stream is refurbishing phones. But it looks like that they don't actually run the phones. - After reading this 5 star ratings, I thought maybe I got it all wrong. I ordered 2 S21 with 256GB this time I thought from Amazon. Seller was again a 3rd party. Anyway. Advertisement said factory unlocked and 256GB storage, from Amazon renewed store. - Seller Hybrid IT. Phones I got? 2 former AT&T 128GB phones! One even missing the SIM card tray. Useless if you need to use it as a actual phone. Contacted Amazon. Amazon support: We are sorry. Ship it back. - ABSOLUTELY NOT AGAIN. Amazon has no clue what sellers are actually shipping out - and what is worse than that - they don’t care! I explained that I will NOT again ship it back for now 2x $80 (insured package value shipping costs to me) and receive $1.Xx shipping costs refund. After a couple messages I get a free SIM card tray shipped for free (I should not have even to ask for one in the 1st place!) and 2x $30 refunded for phones complete out of specs n the 1st place because seller & I won’t pay $160 shipping costs. - I can honestly only warn Amazon customers to stay away from renewed products as long AMAZON has no clue - and worse - interest in what seller actually shipping out. To my question on how come they are not factory unlocked phones with 256GB - I received the answer from the seller: I don’t have them…… Seriously? Fraudsters all over the online market of Amazon! ... show more

  • This is a very good phone for being 2 generations back
RECOMMENDATION: Thumbs up. The cost was less than 1/3 what a new S23 would cost and performance is similar. Condition of the phone was as described by the Amazon used program. THE GOOD: 1. Getting renewed phones through the Amazon used program is a great deal as you are protected by the Amazon guaranty if the phone condition is not as described by the vendor involved. 2. You get a charger and cable with the phone – you just have to put your SIM into it, charge it and you are ready to go. 3. The S21 is a good choice for a candy bar phone as even though it is 2 generations back, its performance is pretty similar to the new S23 – the main difference being the CPU speed is incrementally better on the S23. THE BAD: 1. In my case – Nothing. Love using it and the battery life is pretty good for a 2 year old phone. ... show more

  • Little Disappointed
This phone is a powerhouse. Overall this phone is good, but it does have some areas of concern.. I will explain why by reviewing the good and bad features of this phone. Let's start with the good features. This phone has a vibrant screen and has a great camera. The touch screen is responsive. I do like the fact it identifies likely scam callers. Now I need to figure out how to tell the phone to automatically ignore likely scam callers. The eye comfort setting is nice and easy on the eyes in my room at night. The 256 internal storage makes up for the lack of internal storage. This has many ways of identifying you by using a pin, figure print, and or face recognition. These are strong pluses for the phone. There are features that I like, but some of the basics can improve. It is missing a headphone jack so good luck finding an adaptor that allows you to talk on a headset and charge your phone at the same time. It takes a few attempts to unlock my phone using my figure print. The battery drains really fast, and I leave my phone on the charger most of the day. One time while at the gym, the volume level was constantly changing when I was at the gym using my headphones to listen to music and playing a game. The headphones would be blasting and hurting my ears, and after adjusting the volume, it would either go up again or go down to a whisper. I wonder why the phone gets hot near the camera area. Getting hot for no reason is not a good sign of reliability. Hope this phone lasts. It took me a while to find a good switch that allows me to charge the phone and talk in a zoom meeting. I Hope Samsung releases a fix that addresses the erratic volume and getting hot for no reason. I really like the responsiveness of the phone hope this phone is a good investment. ... show more
