I received the device on time as expected and in the expected physical condition (good) Battery seems ok (though its only been a few hours) Something however I did not expect was that the phone was locked somehow to Android 11 with the last security patch being from like 2020 early 2021. No matter what I did, it would not update to 12 or 13 (And the phone is supported for 13). I put in the simcard from another s20 hoping that being on a network would allow the update but no joy. Did a factory reset, nada. It acted like there hasn't been 3 years of updates. Now I personally was able to manually update to Android 13 by using Samfirm and Odin tools. The process is not that complicated takes maybe 10 minutes or so to do but is not something I'd recommend i'd recommend for those with no experience flashing phones. I am surprised that it was not updated fully before selling it. Regardless I got it updated and for the price it's a great buy. (If you know how to flash phone firmware that is) ... show more

  • Works okay, missing some features, Verizon won't help, now I'm out of luck

Update March 2023: Verizon really does not want to help you if you do not buy the phone from them. They don't care if it is missing features, even if you are a 25-year customer, because you did not buy it from them. That is what I am dealing with now. In my initial review I indicated you have to visit a store to finish setup because that's what I was told through a Verizon chat. They did swap out the SIM card , but could not do anything else. I was told they do not do any software flashing, they are not even sure what that means, and there was nothing they could do at the retail store to help me. I had to call the call center again which I literally did from their parking lot because I told them it was the second time I had visited a store and they're representative had told me to go to the store! I spent 2 hours working with, or on hold with, the call center, and still did not get the correct functionality! They really don't care and don't want to help you unless you pay the astronomical amount of money to get a phone directly from them. My phone still drops calls, does not always call out, does not have voicemail, and does not have the spam filtering. So now I am stuck with either living with that, or paying to upgrade to another phone. The whole reason I bought this one off Amazon is because it still has the micro SD slot and that is what I want. I'm going to try to make it work, I'm very upset with Samsung that they are doing away with the SD slots and hope someday they will bring it back. The bottom line for me is the phone works okay. I have to dial in to get my voicemail now and had to have all of that reset, there is no voicemail icon. There is no way for me to know I have a voicemail I just have to call to see if I have any messages. So if you are okay with a phone that doesn't quite have perfect functionality, then this is a great one. It is decent for the money. If you want a phone that works just like one you would get from the store, bite the bullet and spend the money and go to Verizon. I have gone to two stores, I have done one chat, and been on the phone with them, multiple agents, for over 2 hours. Apparently this is as good as it's going to get for this phone. Feb 23 initial review: I read a few of the reviews, somehow I miss the part where if you get a phone off of a site like amazon, you do still have to take it into your provider for setup? My provider is Verizon. I happened to go in there yesterday and said I had a different phone (had both with me) they told me just to move the SIM card and the SD card over and they did not have to do anything. Today only half of the phone functions, and through a chat they told me I have to come in to have their software flashed onto the phone. I was already there and took the time to drive there and wait etc, only to find out that was not necessary. Now it is necessary because the phone doesn't function correctly. Hopefully once that is done it will be fine. Facial recognition does not work as well as I had thought it would. I will probably erase and try again but it consistently does not recognize my face. I did try to put a screen protector on and I adjusted the touch sensitivity but the phone still did not recognize a touch so I had to take that off. I'm a little nervous about having a screen without a protector I am a Samsung Galaxy lover, I have the s4, the s5, and the s9. I stuck with the s20 because it has the SD card slot. Screen and case show no defects or scratches. Can't tell how much battery life is left. Used the Smart Switch to move from my old phone to this one. Do not have a phone service for it yet. It came with Android 12. Samsung says it will go up to 13. When I do the update, it tells me my phone is up to date. Hopefully it will eventually go to 13. EDIT 8/14/23 - Received my Visible SIM chip today. Data would not work. I chatted with Visible support. Tried everything. Even a factory reset. No data on Visible. Put the Visible SIM in a Galaxy A42-5G and it worked fine. My Verizon branded SIM (from my work phone) works fine (have data) in this S20. The SIM from a Straight Talk works fine in this S20. Ordering another phone. Hopefully the next one works and upgrades to 13. EDIT 8/18/23 - ordered a replacement phone - different seller - this one had a few minor dings along the top, otherwise in excellent condition. This one came with 13 and did all the updates and works with Visible. However, this is a Verizon branded phone. It does not have an SD card slot. It only has 8 gig of RAM, not 12 like the previous one. The model is SM-G981V - I was expecting SM-G981U or SM-G981U1 - this is going back too. Hopefully the next one is right. ... show more

I was hesitant to buy this, but glad I did! Is practically NEW!! there were no scratches at all on this phone! I needed to replace mom's cell as she had the Galaxy S7 and it was old lol...this phone is the Samsung S20 5G. This is a really nice phone! I needed a T-Mobile carrier, and this was perfect, and I just inserted the sim card and it was easy to transfer all information! Is a little slim, since mom can't see very well but she loves it either way! Props to the seller as this was as exactly described, definitely will buy something else from you. Great Price on this and battery does last way longer, mom's is on it a lot and by the end of the night she had 52% still left, so definitely great battery. So far no issues and very satisfy and hope nothing goes wrong with it. Screen is very sweet and clear and vibrant colors. I will put pictures later! ... show more
