Description

Big and powerful, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is made for smartphone enthusiasts and power users. It stands out with being Samsung's first dual-camera phone, enabling real 2x zoom and background blur effects. It is also the first Galaxy Note device built around the newer 18.5:9 display aspect ratio, which allows it to fit a huge, 6.3-inch display in a body not impossible to handle. The S-Pen – a trademark feature for the Note series – is now more precise and more useful with more features built around it. And no less importantly, the phone is built to higher safety standards than its predecessor.

  • Glad to have a Note phone back!
I didn't realize how much I really missed my Note 5 until I got my Note 8 back in my hands, after suffering with the "plain" S7 Edge for a year. Bigger screen, crystal clear display, and best of all...my built-in precision stylus is back! When the Note 7 debacle initially happened, and I wound up having to return it (TWICE!) and finally ended up downgrading to the S7, I was very unhappy, but the S7 was...okay. It is not a Note substitute, however, never will be. Smaller, more fragile (the only Samsung phone that I've owned that ever suffered a cracked screen, for no reason I could ever figure out) and missing the all-important stylus and its attendant S-pen functions, the S7 is an adequate phone, but nothing more. Having said that, I was still unwilling to pay nearly $1,000 for a phone...I just couldn't get used to that price point. So I waited. And finally, when the Note 9 was about to release next month, I started seeing the first hints of "deals" on the Note 8...and then I saw the certified refurbished items. When I saw some of the reviews about people's experience with buying the refurbished units, I was a little hesitant, but I went with a seller that had nearly universally good reviews, and the product I got is indistinguishable from new. Yes, it came in "generic" packaging. No, it did not have all of the "extras" that come with a new phone. But I really don't need earbuds (I have my own), or a memory slot opener (I've got several). It came with the charger and a cable, AND THE PHONE, and really, that's all I wanted/expected/needed. Word of warning, for those who might not have noticed, the Note 8 uses a different cable than your standard micro USB, used by most of the Galaxy series; it's the new-tech USB Type C. But since I still had my cables and chargers from my Note 7 purchase, I was already "hooked up" and ready to plug in my new Note 8. Additionally, I ran into some issues with the fact that it was for Verizon, and I'm an AT&T customer, but the fault was not with the phone, it was with AT&T, who didn't know what to do with it. They initially told me it was locked. It was not. I just transferred my SIM from my old phone and it connected immediately. (It still thinks it's a Verizon when I turn it on...but it works on my AT&T phone line, without issue.) I didn't care for the video that comes with, telling me how to transfer over; it made me sit through a lot of configuration talk, advising me (bad advice, in my mind) to just "skip" all of the initial setup screens for my various accounts (Microsoft, Google, Android, etc.) then spent another 5 minutes telling me how to set my phone up for Sprint, and I'm not a Sprint customer, with no interest in that process. In my opinion, they need to supply written directions specific to each service provider, but since I didn't need to do any of that because I had a compatible SIM already, once I found a competent AT&T advisor, I was up and running in no time, with only an hour-or-so of my life wasted. BUT NONE OF THAT IS THE FAULT OF THIS PHONE! It is perfect, and I am completely pleased with the product and my purchase experience. ... show more

  • The best phone I have ever owned!
I absolutely LOVE my Note 8! I have had mine for 5.5 years. Bought it in May 2019 and I'm writing this in October 2024. This phone is still going strong! Nothing is broken and I still have decent battery life too. But ... time to upgrade. Not because anything is broken but because I need Android 10 and I can't upgrade my Note 8 to run Android 10. 😫 Otherwise I would use this phone until it literally fell apart. So my new Note 20 Ultra will be here tomorrow. I hope it will be as dependable as this one has been. ... show more

  • My Renewed Samsung Note 8 looks brand new!
I absolutely love the Samsung Note 8. It's one of my all time favorite phones. From the fast processor to the huge memory for storing lots of pics and app. The camera is the sharpest and clearest camera of any phone I have ever used. I previously had a note 10 but couldn't stop comparing it to the Note 8 so I went back! The Renewed phone looks brand new and comes considerably less than a brand new phone. If I didn't know it was renewed I would think it was brand new! Great packaging and accessories just like a brand new phone! Why spend more for the same quality? Great phone, great price, Amazon fast....need I say more, I think that says it all! ... show more

  • Phone: Amazing. Price: Amazing.
I love this phone. It's been close to a year since I've had it. I upgraded from a dying Samsung S5, that was super slow. I feel this phone is the sweet spot for people who want something modern but not too expensive. As you know, the Note has the s-pen, and I've never had a more satisfying experience; I'm a college student and I've used this to take notes in class, while my peers use Ipad-Pro's that are 3 to 4 times the price of this. Of course, I wouldn't use it to fully replace paper, but it's so useful, especially if you use Apps like Microsoft's OneNote. I don't want to get into certain details since they're already out there. I personally love the Android OS; you have a lot of control, and have things that are even unnecessary (like the edge lighting, imho). My unit came almost like new; the only thing I noticed that had sign of usage was the finger detector, which was slightly scratched. Additionally, the reason why I didn't give it 5 stars was because of a small glitch I've encountered once in a while: So, when I initially got it, I had trouble turning it on, and this line of dead (?) pixels would appear suddenly on the top portion of the screen, but once it actually turned on, then the screen would be completely fine. There was a long time where I wouldn't see this effect, until recently when I turned my phone from off to on mode. It, again, only appears suddenly, and it doesn't seem to affect the performance in any way. I don't believe it's a software issue, so I'm assuming it's hardware, but performance overall doesn't seem affected. Initially the phone lasted very long since it had such little apps, but like most phones, when you start putting apps, the life starts getting shorter. I recommend turning off as many notifications as possible, and Android has this mode that lets you clean your memory to maintain optimum performance on your device. It's been about a year, and I hope that it last at least another 2 years. If it lasts 3 years, then I'm probably gonna wait to another refurbished model of the Galaxy Note 10!!! The Note series is one of the most sleekest, incredible phone series out there. I don't care about the cameras, I just want performance, and the Note series have that!!! ... show more
