So far this phone has worked well. I'm using Mint Mobile for the US with no problems. It also is handling my European sim with no issues. I was worried that this phone would present problems since it is primarily designed for use outside the US. Those fears are proving to be unfounded.

    • does not receive incoming calls in 4G and 5G mode
5G The signal is good 4G too, but in these modes the phone does not receive incoming calls with outgoing calls, everything is fine if you switch to 3G, then it starts receiving incoming calls, so I made a return (I noticed this error when they try to call me. My connection indicator disappears. But after they stop trying to call me, my phone works again in 5G mode.) ... show more

    • Questionable quality - bought 2, neither was capable of making mobile calls
Samsung seems to be offloading their quality control onto it customers. The first phone was not able to receive calls, although I could make calls. All incoming calls went straight to voicemail. After about 10 hours of troubleshooting (Samsung, T-Mobile, Samsung authorized walk-in clinic) it was decided the motherboard was probably faulty. OK. Sometimes, electronic equipment leaves the factory with a fault. That said, I ordered another A53, this time the US version, and the second phone could not make or receive calls. After about another 5 hours of hassle, I've shipped the 2nd phone to Samsung for repair and returned the first to Amazon for refund. I don't want to buy a 3rd phone and find it's also broken, or spend more time shopping for an alternative. My hope is to get a working phone back from Samsung service. Other than not actually working as a phone, I like the A53. Camera seems top notch. Great macro photos. Screen is bright. The One UI 4.1 user interface is not great, but it's pretty good. For some reason, it hides certain apps from the 'All Apps' pages, making it really annoying to launch some apps. Without a case, the A53 is as slippery as an ice cube, but I use a case. It comes with a ton of Samsung bloatware, and that really sucks. It isn't that these apps soak up memory, because there is plenty. The issue is it took a long while to get most of the annoying crap to stop popping up. The description notes this A53 is the 'International' version, but I either missed that entirely or didn't grasp the significance. It also notes it works in the US. While this phone provides access to the following US 5G bands: 2, 5, 41, 66, 77, 78, it does not provide access to these US 5G bands: 1, 3, 7, 8, 28, 40, 41, 66. The US version of the phone provides access to ALL 5G bands listed above: 2, 5, 41, 66, 77, 78 and 1, 3, 7, 8, 28, 40, 41, 66. I originally thought my connection problems were due to the difference in bands. Now I understand the phone was faulty. I don't know how the bands will affect different carriers. ... show more

Phones are absolute garbage. I bought x3 of these, all 3 are glitchy garbage out of the box, same exact model of phones come with different settings options? Litterly some options are available on one phone but not on others of the exact same model. Touch screen constantly is unresponsive so you cant even unlock the phone. Its the same on all 3 devices.     • Disappointing experience that this phone cannot make and receive phone calls
I have an international phone # and a US phone # so want to have a dual sim unlocked phone to replace my Huawei P20 which can no long download any APP from google playstore. The first phone I received has everything OK but cannot make phone calls well, only in some places (while other people's phones or my old P20 can make phone calls so it is not the reception signal but the A53 new phone itself). I called T-mobile service and it said it must be phone itself not completely unlocked for use in US. I called Amazon customer service and they transferred me to the store which sold the phone, the store person said they will replace a phone fully unlocked. A few days later I received a replacement, the exact same phone model. I was very skeptical it will solve the phone call issue but gave it a shot. When I set up, the phone seemed to work in terms making calls and receiving calls. However, after I update the software, everything went to the same situation as the previous A53, can barely make phone calls. The worse is that it cannot receive any phone calls but the phone calls go to my voicemail. I have returned the first phone, but I have a few days to decide if I should return the 2nd phone. I spent days after days try to figure out an alternative to keep the phone without success. I think Sellers on Amazon should make sure they sell good products. It is a pity Amazon does not even have customer service phone #s list to contact customer service! Does Jeff Bezos worth $200 billions? He should spend some of his fortune to at least list Amazon customer service phone # for people to call!!!! ... show more
