    • Nice A36 phone upgrade from the A35
This is a great, unlocked phone. Worked perfectly on our ATT plan (U.S.) so, perfectly compatible. Just popped the sim out of the A35 and into this A36. It worked right off the bat and did not have to call carrier to change IMEI either. Had to change the language to English on initial boot since this is an international phone. Our A35 was bricked after being caught in a two-hour rainstorm on a motorcycle ride, oops. Basically, submerged in water for two hours at 65mph. However, the transfer of photos, contacts and everything else went seamlessly from the shared server (aka "cloud" lol) backup. Windows phone link transferred any (intentional) non-cloud files from the A35's SD to the A36 quickly as well. This phone is slightly bigger than the A35 so, a new case was in order as well. Had no trouble finding a cool one here on Amazon. This A36 is fast, and 256GB so, nice default storage. Now, storage. The only thing I do not like about the A36. There is no SD card allowed with the carriers SIM installed. It has dual SIM yes but, no way to put an SD in the other SIM position. You have to use either an SD or SIM(s). The SD goes into the entire SIM slot after you remove the SIM tray. Well, I don't like that but, the shared servers hold so much data now-a-days it is not too much of an issue. The A36 connected flawlessly with Windows Phone Link (link to phone) so, using the PC for file transfer, messaging, photo management and phone calls is a breeze and SUPER handy. The web browser(s) is/are current and updated unlike i devices which are 4 years behind in processing css, html5 (and other) code which, as a coder is very important to me. I am still forced to write backward compatible and unique code to support these outdated parsers. Hey, i's are great hardware but, lack in the os and policies. As a full time coder for 35 years now, I will digress. I use my phone as a tool, not the other way around. The Android 16 (comes with 15 but updates quickly to 16) is great and allows me to install whatever I want and test the applications I have written with ease. Did not come with any bloatware just the normal stuff which prompts you to allow or disallow on setup (games center whatever). Not forced into installing crap that eats battery in the background or collects data. The 50MP camera is just simply amazing and video is as well. This A36 connected to my wife's Galaxy Watch very quickly and easily. This A36 feels really good in my hand and seems pretty durable. We got the white one but, matters not as it went right into a case. This unlocked A36 is a great workhorse phone for us and WAY cheaper than trendy phones that have less capability. My wife and I are very happy with the A36 but, will toss into the saddlebag next time we ride in a downpour! ... show more

This phone will NOT work in the United States via the usual route of buying a SIM card and following the directions included with said SIM. Every compatibility test on cellular service websites will result in a incompatible message/error code if you try to test it. Luckily, this is easily circumvented or overridden by most service providers. Have your SIM card and its corresponding information in hand and then call the provider of your choice (straight talk in my case) and speak to a tech. Inform them that the phone is a non-US variant and they will ask you for the SIM card number as well as the IMEI of the phone itself. The process entails them overriding something and allowing the phone to communicate with cell towers here in the United States. It's got a few perks that some US phones don't seem to have either (built in call recording and VPN to name a few) which is kind of nice. The chipset is Exynos, not Snapdragon. Snapdragon has been the superior chipset in the past but Exynos has gotten much better and so long as you're not putting a hefty workload on your phone in terms of processing, then you won't notice a difference.
