This Verizon 5G UW Version Only Has Two Cases Available!
Color: Black Service provider: Verizon Memory Storage Capacity: 64 GB Product grade: Renewed

As a cellphone, this Galaxy A23 5G UW is fantastic. It is an awesome upgrade from a 2014 Galaxy S5. It has great reception, reliable connection to Verizon's network, plus a headphone jack and a microSD card slot that it shares with the SIM card. It currently has a 32 GB microSD card installed, loaded with 13 GB's of mp3's, plus 5 GB's of GPS map data for the HEREWeGo GPS app. No issues whatsoever. There is one niggle to report, however - cases, or the lack thereof. There are actually two versions of the Galaxy A23 - the regular 5G version and this Verizon specific 5G UW version. The UW is so named because it supports Verizon's Ultra Wideband 5G, also known as millimeter wave 5G and C-band 5G on bands N260, 2N61 and N77, in addition to standard 5G on band N78. This necessitates some internal differences that led to a slight change in position of the Volume and Power button. They are about 3/16" lower on this 5G UW version. In practical terms, this means that all of the hundreds of Galaxy A23 5G phone cases that you see listed will NOT function on this version. They will fit, but the case buttons will not work because they do not line up with the buttons on the phone. There are only two cases that actually work and both are thirty bucks: one from Otterbox, search for ASIN B0BVGWGBL4 , and the Itskins - Hybridr Solid Case for Samsung Galaxy A23 5G Uw - Purple and Transparent. That's it. The Otterbox only comes in black and the Itskins in purple and transparent. 11/13/2024 Update Just purchased a second one for myself since my own 2014 Galaxy S5 is starting to lose service in more areas due to 4G LTE frequencies being repurposed for 5G. Activated without issue on Page Plus Cellular, which is now a Verizon owned MVNO. Now have signal pretty much everywhere, both 5G and 4G LTE. The Samsung One UI interface is snappy, with no lag perceptible. This second unit came updated to Android 14 and One UI 6.0. The first one is running Android 13 and One UI 5.1. I was able to copy over all of my data via the Samsung SmartSwitch app, no problem. I also moved over the 64 GB microSD card from my Galaxy S5 to this Galaxy A23 without difficulty, which saved a ton of transfer time for my music mp3's. 05/22/2025 Update I wanted to add that contrary to another review, the A23 5G UW does have NFC. I've included a picture of the pull down shade showing its icon - it's the third button from the left. I use it with my YubiKey 5 NFC security key to store and access OTP's and Passkey's; although there is an issue with the Yubico Authenticator app not being able to access the camera for some reason. This makes it impossible to use this phone to add a new account to the YubiKey via QR code, though you can still input the key manually. However, there is no problem reading the YubiKey 5 via NFC - just hold the key against the back of the phone, next to the camera island. I also added a picture of the phone in the Otterbox case, to illustrate the the button alignment issue with standard A23 5G phone cases. ... show more

Phone is NOT unlocked: Worst Customer Service
Color: Black Service provider: Unlocked Memory Storage Capacity: 64 GB Product grade: Renewed
This was our second attempt at using this company/seller for our new to us, (refurbished) phone. We have an obscure phone carrier and it did not work with the phone after doing the complete switch of our old phone to the new. The seller Stalion (that is the correct spelling) was slow to respond and offered no actual help or care that we, the customers were frustrated and unhappy. We still gave them a second chance, sent the phone back and asked for replacement. We purchased a new plan (a plan that we did NOT NEED) from Mint Mobile because Stalion suggested that could be the problem. We again went through the process of setting up the latest phone with the new plan. The phone worked for one hour and then said "Emergency calls only: Carrier not compatible." We contacted the seller again and they didn't even bother to acknowledge our message/request for help this time. This process took almost a month, with all the back and forth of mail and extremely slow communication from the Stalion. Hands down, worst seller we've ever worked with in our many years as Prime members, ordering from Amazon. *They didn't even deserve one star, but it was required. ... show more

Works Great
Color: Black Service provider: Unlocked Memory Storage Capacity: 64 GB Product grade: Renewed
I bought this phone to replace my last Samsung Galaxy A23 5G that unexpectedly began to not function. I'm horrible with phones and their care (often drop them), but that one had lasted several years with no issues. This one came quickly, sooner than the expected arrival date. It was even cheaper than the original one I purchased. I was hesitant to buy a refurbished phone, but I really liked this model and wanted the same one again. I'm glad I took the risk and got it. Works great and came in great condition. I only had two small issues. First, it didn't come with the small pin it usually does to open the SIM card slot. Luckily, I had a pin small enough to open the slot to remove the tray to add the cards. The second, I had some difficulty setting up the phone. It wasn't connecting to my Wifi signal and it was also giving me issues logging into my Google account for set up. My previous phone I didn't have such a difficult time with that. It took awhile, but once everything was finished it was working great. Overall, I'm satisfied with the product. Great phone for the price with numerous features that can be found (and even not found!) in more expensive phone models. Highly recommend if you want a quality phone without paying a hefty price tag. ... show more

Good Value

First off, your buying a refurbished phone and an entry-level Samsung phone. A23 probably the bottom of the line up, seems like some people missed that part and was looking for a flagship experience.... Anyway I bought this as a backup phone for my S23 Ultra if I were to crack the screen or experience another technical difficulties and I'll have this A23 to swap the sim into and continue life as usual untill repairs are made. This A23 is my beater car for when all the good ones are broken. This A23 is 5G and making use of the Verizon Ultra Wide band network, also uses the NANO sim and a Type C connector like every phone these days. Plastic body but retaims a Gorilla Glass screen and a side Finger print scanner for security. Batter is big at 5000mAh but the charging is slow at only 25 watts and lack wireless charging, also appears to be missing NFC so no tap to pay. No big deal as this is a cheap phone. Condition of the phone, this is a refurbished phone marked as excellent condition and I find Amazons assessment as accurate, no scratches anywhere. Generic box with an older type Samsung 25 watt "adaptive fast charger" with a type-A usb port. Also included in mine was a generic Type-A to Type-C charging cable. The phone itself was protected in a bubble wrap sleeve with the screen wrapped in plastic. I haven't dug into the phone too much yet but their was NO Sim tray removal tool included in the box. ... show more

Phone works Camera is ok, but it inverts the picture Good condition, only hide tiny scratches only visible up really when phone is off, works with T mobile, My complain is that battery does not last long and glitchy sometimes and my phone is not really charging these days, I haven't had the phone long I got it in February at first I thought it was the charger or the box or the outlet but I have tried multiple chargers and tried different outlets and it's becoming a hassle to try to get it to charge, so even though the phone is working I don't know how long it's going to last because usually my phones that I had in the past would do this but only after like 3 to 4 years and be cracked but I only had these phone for a few months and it's having charging issues and is not cracked ... show more
