  • Supports all features I need, except GSync
Style: Enterprise Grade
It has everything: - USB C DP for Macbook Pro '16 charging. it is 60W, but is more than enough for me as long as I am not playing with it. Currently main MBP charging brick is somewhere in box and one USB C cable is used for charging and video (unless I set up as split screen, then HDMI is also connected) - PBP aka split screen to support two sources: I use it to split my screen as if there were two monitors connected, so I can split it in Mac anywhere between 1-4 ways (USB C & HDMI). Sometimes one side connect to Mac, another to PC (DisplayPort). Amazing - Freesync: not useful for me, as my PC runs on Nvidia GTX, but maybe futureproof? - Ultra wide - Curved - Great picture quality. As I am comparing to Retina, it is very close to it. - 100hz refresh rate - Eye saving mode - great feature for working late nights to not hurt eyes that much - basically makes screen slightly foggy and yellowish (reduce blue). Works same as iPhone's Night Shift, just not automatic - Auto detects new video source (enables in settings), just wish it would work for PBP too - Easy to use and navigate push button behind screen I am using it for work (Mac) and gaming (PC). Especially happy as work monitor Disadvantages - Is not Gsync compatible. Especially it is problem when over 100 fps. I just use vsync, glad that some games support 100hz vsync - Sometimes I see lines running down from top down, but quick monitor off/on seem to fix it. That's why 4 stars instead of 5 At this price point, You just can't beat it with all the features this monitor has. Anything similar goes way over 1000 ... show more

  • Great way to add desktop space
Style: Enterprise Grade
The Ultrawide Samsung LC34H890WJNXZA (CH890) works well as a desktop monitor for extra screen real estate and to allow scaling up desktop elements for easier readability. The monitor I purchased arrived well packed from Amazon and was undamaged in shipping. It was easy to set up connections for two different computers, although one must be DisplayPort connected and the other HDMI. Given the included cables and a DP->HDMI adapter I already had, there was no problem with the monitor only having one of each type of connector. I had thought I might use the PBP/PIP functionality to simultaneously view both inputs, but the reality of how that works and the PIP placement just aren't flexible enough, and is why it doesn't get 5 stars. As some other reviewers have noted , the colors are a bit dull by default. Since I always calibrate my monitors with a Datacolor Spyder, this was easily corrected. Every monitor I have ever used has benefited from calibration, especially when you put different monitors side-by-side. Once calibrated, I'm very happy with the color accuracy, saturation level, and overall display quality. The curve of the display seems just right and is great for placement on the corner of a desk. Good adjustability and an anti-glare surface make viewing comfortable. The joystick control on this monitor is no better than the same type of controls on any other monitor. It keeps the front of the monitor free of buttons and it works good enough. The included cover for the rear of the monitor might be nice for situations where the back of the monitor is exposed, but proved too finicky to install when the monitor is backed up to wall, so I set it aside. ... show more

  • Blows away my expectations
Style: Enterprise Grade
I've had my Samsung CH890 for about 24 hours now and I'm just completely blown away by this monitor. I had a 29" ultrawide previously and I did not think the additional 5" diagonal screen size would be that much of a difference, but I was wrong. While working, I can have 3 windows comfortably sized into 3 columns. It really makes a difference to just glance to the left and right on the same screen vs. looking at a 2nd screen. I fired up a couple games and was also just completely floored how gorgeous and immersive everything looks. Here's a few random thoughts: +Displayport and USB-C inputs mean both my work laptop and my gaming desktop can be hooked up at the same time and take advantage of the 100hz refresh rate (FYI you may have to manually increase the refresh rate in Advanced Display Options). +Tested out picture-in-picture today and I'm sure it will come in handy. (Note: Your computer may see the PIP setup as a new screen so you'll have to update position, etc. Also PIP seems to lock the screen to 50hz.) +The default eco mode settings are great for office work, but it's quick to change to the Cinema profile for watching a movie (tested out with Blade Runner 2049, looked gorgeous) or the gaming profile. +Controlling all the settings with the control stick is pretty intuitive. After a day I'm able to zip around the options to experiment with some different settings. +I was a little worried about the lack of reviews, but mine has really clean, even picture, with crisp text. +Box was packed well, and makes assembly of the stand super easy. Leave the monitor panel in there while you assemble the stand and then you can snap it in with the monitor still in the box. The instructions show this but it's easy to miss. You'll need a coin or screwdriver for 2 screws on the base. Overall no real negatives so far (50hz picture-by-picture and picture-in-picture mode is a slight bummer, but it's a feature I'll only use occasionally). Will update the review if anything changes with more use. ... show more

  • Great for CAD and other modeling, NOT for photo or video editing, some laptops do not support USB C
Style: Enterprise Grade
This monitor is great if you are a CAD pro and want a large workspace. I can edit ANSI B size drawings at 100% and still be able to read all the text easily. The effective area is just a bit more than two 1920x1080 monitors. The extra pixel height is very handy. Only issues I have had is that during meetings, I need to make sure that what ever I am sharing is in the center of the screen. Otherwise, the other participants cannot see what I am showing them. The USB-C display and power port is great; however, not a lot of laptops really support this yet. I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T480 that keeps blowing the chip on the motherboard. It is on its third repair for the same issue. ... show more
