First one I bought suddenly started typing on its own and acting up. Contacted the seller and they immediately offered a refund or replacement. Since I had made this phone my main number I opted to replace it and they let me hold on to it until the new phone came. They issued a USPS return label and all I had to do was put the phone and accessories in the original box, tape the label on, and put it in the mailbox. So far the second (a couple/few weeks) is working fine - it did have one weird issue but I think it was due to not having the charger cord in all the way or something. I also have an a42. It appears the a52 gets better reception (I think there was a revision in the antenna design between 42 and 52). I don't like some of the software differences (personal opinion) but maybe in later updates Android will switch some things around. I always buy the refurbished phones. Why spend hundreds/thousands. I don't spend my life on my phone. Ratings: Phone - Seems to work as expected. Seller - Exceptional. Stood behind the sale and worked with me to take care of things. Can't ask for much more than that. Any seller will eventually have an issue with some product - a good seller works with the customer to solve it. ... show more

Updated for Battery 1 Capacity - It appears to have come with about 95% of new A52 5G battery capacity. 2 Charging - Using the charging brick and cable that came in the box it takes about an hour to charge from 25% to 85%. Using the Samung 4.0 battery saving feature I have the phone set at 85% maximum charge Note: I have the cable plugged into a UPS and not directly into the electrical outlet in the wall. Charging might be faster if charging directly from an electrical outlet. 3 Discharging - Maybe six or so hours of battery with continous video and audio streaming. A full day's use of mixed use depending on how many hours you actually use apps on your phone. Updating apps especially if you have a lot of them in addition to the Google and Samsung apps that come with the phone could use up to 5% of your battery charge during a single update session if you don't update daily. Google app updates are big battery users. Overall the battery is okay. Not great and not awful especially if you take the time to optimize your phone using Samsung's optimization features including Sleep and Deep Sleep. I don't know how much the use of the phone app drains the phone as I am not a big phone talker so no point in checking. On a personal note. I am not a big talker nor do I stream video or audio from my phone though I keep the phone on 24/7. I am getting several days of use from a single charge to 85% ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I received the phone on Saturday three days ahead of schedule. Also received the case on Saturday, one day ahead of schdule. It was clear from the box the A52 5G came in that it was a renewed phone. I didn't see any scratches on the display. Since I keep the phone is a case like I have all my phones I didn't bother looking for scratches or marks on the back, The seller has a 98% rating on Amazon Anyway. I used Samsung's switch app to move all my stuff from my Tab A7 to the A52 5G. It took a while, a little over an hour. Not all the apps moved over so I manually added the few that didn't This morning the phone received Android 12 along with Samsung UI 4.0. A definite improvement over Android 11 and UI 3.1. One of the new features of UI 4.0 under Settings is a hardware test app. Since the phione is renewed I was glad to see that. I used it to check out all the hardware componentsm except facial recognition, which I am not using at the moment and they all checked out fine. Interesting, that all the Samsung apps on the phone udated from the Galaxy Store after 12.0 x 4.0 were completely installed. Now for a few comments about the A52 5G So far no problem with my ISP accepting the phone. Just switched the sim card and also the SSD card from my A12. Both the phone and the card worked fine right after intalling them in the A52 5G. Not overwhelmingly fast or slow. A nice speed for what I use a phone for. I am not a gamer so I can't comment on that. The display while not great in the bright sun is more than readable outdoors in the bight sun. The adaptive display feature works fine and doesn't dim the display too much in the dark. The audio without headphones or a bluetooth speaker while not the quality you get with those is loud enough without them I can't comment on the battery life at this time since I just got the phone along with an included fast charger brick and cable. Charged it when I got it and again during the update to 12.0 x 4.0, So in the less than three days that I have had the phone it has done heavy work on two of those days which obviously affects the battery drainage. As far as the in display fingerprint scanner goes. I knew before hand that it has gotten a lot of unfavorable reviews. I am using it regulary even to open apps. To wake the phone tap once to bring up the location of the scanner, then place your finger on that spot. It works fine though it is a bitt slow. You have to hold your finger on the scanner for a couple of seconds before it opens up whatever. I expect the battery will be fine since the phone is less than a year old and how many charges can one do in less than a year? As the phones sytems softwarew learns and tunes itself and with some tweaks I imagine the battery life will be more than good enough. One last thing. The A52 5G though it has the same display size 6.5" as the A12 is lighter and narrower than the A12. I have small hands and it is a comfortable fit. I can't speak about one haned use since I have never used only one hand on any of my phones.     • worst phone I've ever had
After breaking my moto G (with a cover and gorilla glass no less!!!) I had to shop for a new phone ASAP and looked around. Though I love motos for their battery life, they tend to be bulky and slow. I went back to Samsung and ordered this one. I didn't use it until the case came (over a week later) and this weekend was the first time for an all day use. The battery was dead in 8 hours. All I was doing was checking Facebook here and there, and playing words with friends. No apps were running, I constantly kept closing things, and I wasn't hanging on it all day (as I was competing, but in between runs on breaks). I'm also finding that though I've NEVER had an issues with coverage for AT&T, coverage was spotty all day. And it can't even stay connected to my wifi in the house as the phone doesn't have the 'range' I guess. The fingerprint reader - first time I've used that feature - is awful. Constantly tells me it's not me, I gave up, did a couple of rescans, but ended up going back to the PIN method. Big disappointment Samsung!!! I also find it incredibly slow. I haven't had a Samsung phone in a long time, and I guess I'll have to shop for another phone and save this one for the kids when one of theirs needs replacing!!! ... show more

So many have written near full reviews on this I won't repeat that except to give a quick opinion for this phone. It's a second phone for me, used for when I sell items online, as I didn't want to invest in a more expensive phone for that reason. I use it on Tracfone's prepaid service and it works fine with their sim card. The A52 is considered "mid-range", and you should NOT compare it to a $1,000+ iPhone or similarly priced Samsung phone. At full price it's $499, but occasionally goes on sale for $399, and at that price, is an excellent deal. It boots up quickly enough. The under-screen fingerprint reader is not as reliable or as fast as a dedicated physical fingerprint reader button, but so long as you take the time to properly program a couple of fingers into it, it works well enough. The 1080p screen is bright and clear, and just large enough to give you plenty of viewing space and still be able to comfortably hold it, without being overwhelmingly large. The speakers are decent. Battery life is pretty good and should get you through a whole day unless you literally live on the phone. Call quality is "ok", and so far I've only suffered from one dropped call. The wifi antennae likewise, has good reception. Camera wise, it's again in the mid-range territory. The main back camera does a very good job in good lighting, and a decent job in lower light. The wide-angle camera isn't quite as sharp/detailed and does less well in low light, but still more than good enough for online pics. The maco lens is ok for quick close shots but not very high res and you have to keep your hands VERY steady to keep them sharp. Front selfie cam is better than average but not top notch, and again, gets the job done. This is one of the better mid-range phones on the market in this price range, and if you can especially get it when it's on sale for $349-$399, then it's an EXCELLENT deal for what you get for the price. Once again, it's not a $1,000+ phone and if you compare it to one of those exactly, you might be a little disappointed, but if you compare it to others in this price range, it's a good pick. ... show more

    • Great phone at a great price
So far so good with this phone which I have had for less than a month. I got it to replace my S7 that, even after falling in the river, still worked but the battery life was pretty much done for. Also I wanted a 5G. This phone is a bit larger but not by much. The battery life is very long, the camera works well, screen resolution and volume are very good. I don't do gaming or streaming at all. My phone is primarily for calls, texts, photos and searching the internet. I will eventually download audiobooks and music. There are still some things I am figuring out on it. With my old phone I could press the button at the bottom twice and get the camera. Haven't figured out how to do that with this phone yet. The one thing that annoys me is taking screen shots. I find it difficult to press those two small buttons on the side at exactly the same time. I also think it is ridiculous that the charging port on the phones are changed. Now I have perfectly good chargers from the S7 that I can no longer use. This is wasteful across all phone and tablet manufacturers. If you don't want to spend a lot of money but want a reliable phone I recommend this one. ... show more

UPDATE on Tue, February 01, 2022 - Gave this device to my son for his upcoming birthday since his old device began to fail. I still feel the way I origninally reviewed this A52 5G! I bought this phone because it's the best upper-tier mid-range cellphone that has expandable memory up to 1TB, earphone jack, dual speakers, 120hz AMOLED display which has configurable always-on capability, & it is 5G. When I purchased it in late November 2021 for $388, I knew it was a real deal. Now having used the device for over 2 months, I'm quite pleased with the quality, value, and reliability of the phone. All-in-all it has been and still remains an enjoyable experience. It should be a few years in the future before I want to replace it. Micro SD card storage expandability is a huge must-have for me as I keep much of my music on board with me as I travel. I do not use the SD card for any other purpose, only music! Amazon came through with an acceptable price and I now notice it has risen; which I can understand as the device becomes more well known to those seeking great quality. I find it worth every penny without spending $500 or more. No, I don't even know anyone named Jones! I'm not much for keeping up with folks enviously no matter what name they have. 😊 ... show more

I always had a Samsung phone that I would buy at the Metro PCS store. When I needed a new phone, they didn't ha e a Samsung so I got the Nokia. It died a slow death and I again went to Metro for a new phone and got a Revvl by T Mobile which was the biggest piece of garbage ever!! I went online and bought this Samsung and I'm a happy girl again. Half the price of the garbage phone I had gotten at the Metro store and it's perfect. Has all the features and then some, doesn't drop calls, doesn't get pop ups, camera is fantastic, charges pretty fast and battery life is good. There are few phones with a head phone jack (I won't use blue tooth ear buds) and this phone has one. Gotta live Samsung! ... show more

    • Over hyped
This is what I bought to replace my Huawei Honor 5, which lasted me about 4 years and cost half as much as this Samsung. First off, I'm a Gen X er and am quite disdainful of most "tech". I'll never use the finger print reader or the facial recognition or download more than 6 apps tops. I find it needlessly complicated. It's also quite a large phone. The phone is fast which I attribute to the 5G. Fast loading internet pages and very good reception. The phone calls are also crystal clear. So those are the two of the things that matter the most to me. The third important thing I use the phone for is as an internet hotspot and this is where it really p#$@%'s me off. It disconnects about every 10 minutes. I think it's trying to save its battery but it is really frustrating and I take 1 and a half stars off for that. The speed of the hotspot is also quite a bit slower than my old Huawei. This brings me to the battery life. As much as it's hyped, it isn't even as good as my old Huawei at the end of it's life span. It'll last me no more than a single day of standard web, text and phone calls. I guess that's why it has the fast charging setup which can go from 0 to full in about 2hours. The camera is very complicated and not intutitive. The settings remind me of an old 1990's SLR. Now that's not a bad thing and allows quite a bit of creativity, at least theoretically. Still, it is not as good as a Huawei but better than an I-Phone. I do like that it has it's own Samsung browser so I don't have to depend on spying Google. Finally one nuisance is that it insists on vibrating every time a text arrives. Yes, yes, I've turned all the vibration off but it still does it (I'm hoping I'll be able to stop the vibrating if I search for a fix. Again though, not a very intuitive phone.) So I spent $500 and If I were to do it again, I'd spend a little more to remain with a Huawei. It does seem to hold up to being kicked off the counter on to the hardwood floor by the cats multiple times, so, it is a bit rugged, which is a must for me as I am a 220 pound gorilla. ... show more
