Got these for my newly purchased chopping block. The easy grip made oiling the board very fast. The sponge head helped spread the oil nice and evenly. And there are two in the box and price is quite decent. The sponge brush, however, makes me wonder if I could have used my own sponges. I also wonder how long the sponge head will stay on the handle before it either separates from the wooden handle. Also, the durability of the sponge is questionable. It is very soft and feels like those thin wrapping plastics on appliance items. It also soaks up the oil quite a bit and doesn't seem to spread as much. Perhaps it's the first time it was used and since I am new at this and I doubt I will be oiling the board often, I will take it as it is. There was no care instruction in the box and I am at a loss as to how to store them. I suppose I will try to squeeze out as much oil as I can. Overall, I am okay with it.

The product feels good in the hand. It is light-weight and durable. I wasn't sure if these would really work well, but I was pleasantly surprised that it did. Using the applicator, the oil was applied evenly throughout the process. Applying mineral oil to a cutting board using a towel or paper towel is really a bad experience. Typically, the towel holds so much oil that you're constantly squeezing out the oil. The applicator on this product do hold some oil, but not nearly as much. What oil is held in the applicator, is comes out easily with a little bit of pressure on the board. Additionally, this made clean up pretty easy. I squeezed out the remaining oil, then added some dish soap on the applicator. This was a night and day improvement over using a towel to apply the mineral oil. Factoring in both quality and purchase price, this is a must buy.

I have a large butcher block cutting board that we use every single day. I need to oil it more often than I do, but honestly, using paper towels or an old t-shirt is messy. These applicators make that problem a thing of the past. They are very easy to hold. I have a similar item with bristles for washing non-dishwasher safe items. These applicators have a nice thick sponge, and it glides over the cutting board easy and effortlessly. The only reason I gave them 4 stars is because I'm not sure how to get the oil out of the sponge. At this point, I'm having to store it in a Ziplock bag to keep dust from collecting on the sponge. I would really like to clean it because the oil will eventually go rancid. Overall, though, a great kitchen item!

These items are very well made, the wood looks and feels high quality. Sponge is not very absorbent, so you don’t have to use a ton of product. I used to use cotton for oiling my boards, which gets stuck if there are cracks or if the board has a raw outer lining. These do not have that problem and make oiling my boards a breeze. Really love them. Great addition to my kitchen!

I make cutting boards, so when I saw these i ordered them to see how well they work. I only use a cutting board oil, not wax. 1. The applicators hold a reasonable amount of oil and you can spread it easily. Of course, you can simply use your hand and get the same results. 2. I'm not sure how long the artificial "sponge" on these will last but it held up on the three boards I used it on. 3. The sponge holds oil well and distributes it evenly on the board. 4. Other than trying to press the remaining oil out when you finish there is no good way to fully clean these as they seem to resist soap. Perhaps storing in some oil-proof container would be the solution but only if you are using an actual cutting board oil or mineral oil. Otherwise the oil will turn rancid. In sum, if you want an attractive couple of oil spreaders instead of just using your hands, these will do the job. Just plan on finding storage.

This is sort of like a palm brush for scrubbing dishes. It is easy to hold with its ergonomic, smooth, splinter-free handle. The foam part looks and feels like a standard packing material foam, which does not hold up to wear. I will update this review if the foam begins to crumble. For now, this product does as it’s advertised—makes applying oil to a cutting board smooth and easy. P.S. The product title is a little confusing, esp the use of both words “set” and “kit” to describe the same product. Set usually indicate a pair or more of items. A kit usually indicates an assembled group of products, not necessarily duplicates, but used in complement of each other.

These are beautiful and fit comfortably in the hand, making them SO MUCH NICER than dealing with messy paper towels or rags. However, how do you clean and store them? At the very least, they should come with some kind of wooden coaster or something to place them on. You can stand them on the wooden end, but then dust and stuff gets attracted and sticks. Including one of these and some wax or oil would be a great idea if you are giving someone a gift of a wooden salad bowl or cutting board or other wood utensils. But the applicator needs something to store it on, and instructions for keeping it clean would also be helpful.

This is helpful for oiling your cutting boards. I typically use paper towels but that really isn't the best or most effective way of doing it not to mention the mess and the waste of all the oil they soak up. Unfortunately I don't always do it as often as I should because of that. I'm hoping that these will help me doing it more often like I should. They worked well and I'm sure they will only getting better as the sponge absorbs more of the oil. I do wish though they would've come with a base or something to set them on because once they been in the oil you have nowhere to set them. They seem to be made pretty well so hopefully they will hold up ok and at least for now my cutting boards will be happier.
