  • Cute, but maybe not 3 year old appropriate
Nice quality set. Again, some small pieces that I think will make this a frustrating project for a 3 year old, but hopefully working on these with our grandson will keep him interested. I’m glad they are separated so I don’t risk parts getting mixed up, etc. I think there should be more paint included, but we have plenty here to use as well. My grandson loves using tools, so hopefully this is fun for him! I really feel the appropriate age range would be 5-6, when hand coordination is improved and focus is a bit more fine tuned. The instructions are helpful for the adult supervisors of course! ... show more

  • Quality kit for kids
These wood building kits for kids are an impressive quality. The wood is pre-cut and pre-sanded, so the kit is ready to put together. Each of the four different kits are packaged separately in plastic, so it's clear which pieces go with which. I put together the helicopter with my 3-year-old grandson. It was a little advanced for him to do much of the work, but he could be the helper. All holes are pre-drilled, so there's no guessing where the screws go. Assembly was easy, but I did get a better screwdriver. The included screwdriver had a handle that was too small, so he couldn't make enough torque to tighten most of the screws. A larger handled driver fixed that problem. The included paints and brushes are easy to work with, but there's not enough paint for all of the projects. We used all of the yellow on the helicopter alone. The instructions are relatively clear without guessing. Overall, this is a fun kit for kids and adults to do together. Older kids could probably assemble this on their own. ... show more

  • Learning how to build can be fun!
These were a lot of fun to do with our 5 year olds. The pieces were nicely-finished and the visual instructions were helpful – the kids could put the pieces together with some help (it does use a lot of screws!) The paint seems ok but mini paint pots always frustrate me – they don’t stand on their own if cut apart, but it’s also not ideal to keep them together (sometimes colors get accidentally mixed; and if one pot tips, there go them all.) Not to mention that they’re always hard to open, sigh. But the colors were nice and the kids had fun. Overall it’s a nice kit. Yes it’s a bit pricey, but it does come with 4 projects. ... show more

  • Lots of screws!
Hoping this will keep my 6 year old busy for awhile since it comes with 4 sets! He asked me to get him wood pieces he could nail together he’s been a bit obsessed with dad’s hammer and screw drivers so this is perfect for him. Dad will have to help but it’s big wood pieces so I think it’s good for his age range. The wood pieces are solid wood so feels good quality. And seems easy to use. And it comes with a small amount of paint which if you want to paint them fully you might need more paint. The amount included could work for accents, but I know my son will need more the way he paints. This will be a very fun project for my son! ... show more

  • Fun project for dad and kids
So far, they’ve only built the birdhouse. They really enjoyed it though. They had a great time spending time with their dad. After they built it, they were able to paint it and now it’s hanging in the backyard with birdseed in it. The wood is good quality and today’s price of $47.43 is reasonable for the 4 projects you get. ... show more

  • Great quality; would make an excellent gift!
Such a cute little set—fun for all ages!! I know this says 3+ yrs old, but it’s also a fun little set for older kids that are into vehicles and building and the like. My son is in his teens and has had a lifelong hyper focus on all things vehicle, and his dad builds houses for a living, so he’s also starting to get interested in building things in real life rather than his digital building creations. This makes a fun set that is hands on, and at his age he can read the directions and do it all himself if he wants to. We’ll likely do the birdhouse together, then actually use it outside—which is awesome! (We’ll be using animal-safe paint or topcoat or something on that one since it’ll be outdoors and constantly exposed to the elements). The set itself is great. It is very thoughtfully packaged; rather than all the pieces being tossed in a bag that you painstakingly sort through, each set has its own bag of components that is clearly labeled (A,B,C,D) and a set of clear assembly instructions also labeled accordingly. I love that there’s not a ton of annoying guesswork— everything is very easy to follow. The quality seems great. It’s real wood that’s been sanded to buttery-smooth perfection (you won’t be needing to worry about splinters and scrapes) and each of those individual sets have their corresponding screws and hardware—they even give you the little screwdriver! All of the pieces are present and in good working order. It has one of those strips of little cups of paint, and the paint itself seems decent and is not dry or gummy. We may use those for accent painting and use something else to cover large areas, as I don’t think it’ll be enough to thoroughly cover, especially if you’re painting the way you desire rather than how they are painted in the colored pictures. Overall, this is a great little set and would make a great gift or just something to have on hand for a non-screen activity (my kids use screens all the time, so I like to keep a regular stock of non-screen fun around for a bit of balance). As I said, my kids are older and will enjoy this, but also my 3yo nephew would also have a blast with it (just with some adult assistance lol). There’s four different projects , so it’s around eleven bucks and change for each, which seems a bit pricey, but I think it’s probably on-par for nowadays. Perhaps a bit expensive for stocking up on, but seems about right for a gift (girl math lol). I would recommend it even though it may seem a bit up there in price— the materials are good quality (though the amount of paint provided is a bit scant), and everything is so thoughtfully packaged and spelled-out (which really does eliminate any possible frustration, so you can just get on with the fun). If you’re giving as a gift and want to check that all bags/pieces are there ahead of time, be very mindful about how the different bags are packaged in the box, as it’ll be difficult to find another way make it all fit nicely. ... show more
