I picked up this SainSmart Genmitsu vacuum clamp pod to do general workholding, and it’s been surprisingly solid. The aluminum body is well-made and heavy and it sits flat with no wobble. Once you hook it up to a strong vacuum source, the grip is genuinely impressive. I tested it on a few different materials: plywood, acrylic, and a small metal plate. Everything stayed put without having to use traditional clamping or worry about the router bit bumping into clamps. The sealing surface makes it easy to get a good hold. I wouldn’t say it replaces every type of clamp in the shop, but for quick routing jobs on small workpieces it saves a ton of time. This is one of those accessories you don’t realize you need until you use it a couple of times.

I've used this for several smaller projects now that were too awkward for some of my traditional holding methods. It's much more convenient than double-sided tape as well, which can make smaller items hard to pry off off. It's built solid and comes with plenty of accessories to make sure you have what you need. Haven't noticed any leakage either. Overall it's a pretty functional and a great value.

This has replaced super glue and painter's tape for me when holding down stock I don't want to clamp. The kit has everything you need except a vacuum pump, I put the fittings on with some teflon tape to seal the threads, lubed the o-rings with vasoline, hooked it up to my vacuum pump, clamped it down, and I'm happy. Hold down force is simple area x pressure (of vacuum in this case) so if you are trying to use this with just a shop vac expect only about 10-12lbs of hold down force, but with a good vacuum pump you can get about 50lbs which is enough for me on my small mill with aluminum. If you are pushing higher speeds on harder materials like steel maybe that won't be enough for you, but the only way to get more clamping force is to use larger stock and a larger vacuum plate, that's just physics. As long as you aren't expecting hundreds of pounds of hold down force out of a tiny plate like this I think you'll be happy with it.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Excellent plate for small material holding where you can't get a clamp to work and tape is too difficult to remove. Holds really well for the different woods I have used on it. The smoother the surface the better for a tight seal.

Wow. This is definitely something I never knew I needed, but now can't imagine not using it. Very easy to work with. Works as advertised. Made well and durable. So much better than expected!
