I’m really happy with this rug! I’ve been on a mission to find something that complements our warm-toned floors and cool-toned walls—buying rug after rug in search of the perfect solid greige or taupe shade—and I think I finally found it. It’s both affordable and surprisingly nice. In photos, especially with the gray couch covers, it can appear more silver than it does in real life. I tested it in all kinds of lighting, but I couldn’t quite capture its true color in any photo or video. In person, the rug has a cool-toned, light mushroom-brown/gray look—essentially a true taupe—with the slightest grayish purple-brown tint. The photo with the white couch cover and the last photo are the most accurate representation. I tried it with both white and gray covers, and it looks great with either. The rug is extremely soft and noticeably thicker than most other affordable rugs I’ve purchased on Amazon recently. I was planning to get a rug pad, but after unrolling it, I didn’t feel the need—at least not right away. It has a nice amount of cushion on its own. While it’s not ultra plush, it’s definitely soft enough to be comfortable on hardwood floors. It also came rolled instead of folded, which I really appreciate. There were no wrinkles, just a slight curl at one end that I’m confident will flatten out. My Shark cordless stick vacuum had no issues—it didn’t try to “eat” the rug like it tends to with thinner ones, even with the brush roll on for carpet mode. I have purchased Safavieh products in the past and that is what drew me to buy this one, and I was not disappointed in its softness and durability. It fit perfectly between my bedroom door and the door of the bathroom (I live in an apartment). To ensure that it does not move, I found clear two-sided taped which was easy to install and held its grip perfectly. Although this runner was of nice quality, it will not lie flat. No matter what I did -- rolling it tight in the opposite direction, weighting it down overnight with books; applying those sticky rug corners that should stick the rug to the floor (which it stubbornly resisted). I thought the runner would relax eventually, but I swear it curled up even more after another day. So, after tripping over it twice, I realized it would never relax enough to ensure the safety of this 70-year-old woman. I was done, back it goes. But this wasn't the worst part.... Although the seller offered free shipping, they DO NOT offer free return shipping. Below are the surprising, anger-inducing shipping instructions from Home Trends that you will see when printing out your return shipping label should their merchandise not meet your expectations: "Hello. We are sorry to hear the item did not work in your space. Unfortunately we do not offer free return shipping. We do not participate in prime. Please have the unused item ready and packaged in its original packaging and have the item returned via FEDEX or UPS. As soon as you return the item please contact us with the tracking number information so we can track the return and issue a refund as soon as the item has been inspected...." Whaaaat!?!? It gets worse -- not only do they not let you know how to contact them to give them the tracking number, they also do not inform you of how much of your refund they are deducting for the return shipping cost. I will always remember Home Trends and avoid their merchandise at all costs. It's just not worth the risk when PRIME sellers stand 100% behind their merchandise.
