    • Mediocre Execution of a Great Concept!
I'm constantly looking for a convenient place to put my lighter or searching for it because I can't remember where that "convenient" place turned out to be! So this lighter's novel design concept was immediately attractive to me, and in the short time I've had it I am generally satisfied. This lighter came up on Amazon in response to my search for "Tesla Coil Lighter", however it is a resistance coil type heating element (like a car lighter or an older style electric stove top, as opposed to a wireless radio frequency Tesla coil. However this is a artifact of the search engine and not the fault of the seller or manufacturer. Nowhere in the seller's product description does it claim to use a Tesla coil. Now the nitpicks (and only because I love the concept): The description says "The Saberlight mini is the same size as a cigarette" but it is of a significantly larger diameter and just slightly longer than a king size cigarette. The diameter means more than one cigarette must be removed to make room for the lighter. The length means that a king size cigarette box will not quite close completely. These are petty criticisms because I currently stuff a BIC lighter in my pack which requires the space of 5 or 6 smokes, and the length doesn't prevent it being used as intended (not an issue if you smoke 100's). A resistance coil will consume the battery's charge faster than a Tesla coil but if the claimed 100 lights per charge is true the more frequent recharging is of little consequence. For the manufacturer the remaining CIP suggestions are (1) the super smooth chrome like finish makes it difficult to remove from the pack and (2) the slide switch is upside down in my opinion. If you don't insert the lighter into the pack upside down you risk the switch sliding to the on position. If the the grab surface was more tactile, the length was a mm shorter, and the switch installation was reversed this would be a 5 star product! ... show more

Mine came in a cellophane bag, see jpeg. Which is okay for static items, I guess, but this is a heated filament item and someone, or something must have hit the on switch while in the bag! Spent an hour trying to extract the plastic from the filament and another 30 trying to get it poked back down. Unfortunately those activities failed, so it's now in the recycle bin. Too bad really, imagine how entertaining it would have been when the switch got actuated by someone, or something while in my pocket! Update - So, I resurrected it from the bin and after 20 minutes managed to get it working. I like it! Lights a smoke in any conditions and tucks right back in the pack, so I won't lose it... Sorry Saberlight, I jumped the gun a bit. But please don't pack it in cellophane anymore. ... show more

I loved while it worked. But after a few months it stopped working. Do you know why it wont take charge .I would love to have it working again.. I guess it's the battery life. Can I order new batteries or just a new one.

    • dangerous switch
Just opened...nice box...although it does/says everything in the ad, the one thing you find as soon as you have it in your hand is there is no "catch" position for the on/off slide control...it travels freely between the on and off position...forget ever keeping this in your purse or pocket...the cig box is the only place remotely safe to stash this thing away in...and even then I look for the light to make sure it didn't slide to "on" as I put it away. There also is no return spring, so it stays in the on position after bumping it there. For the flaws I will keep, as it will serve as a backup on my motorcycle, and not worth hassling with return. ... show more
