  • Bare-bones Ibanez- Sounds Great!
It does exactly what I want from an Ibanez and looks great. The pickups can handle extreme gain and not feedback. If you want feedback it can do it with two pedals running or just gave your amp lol

  • Great guitar but I got a bad sample
I bought this guitar from another store not here. That being said, I have wanted the S series for a long time as I was in love with its aesthetics, design and easy play neck design. So, I got it, and the intonation was perfect, no noise bleed so insulation was great, and the pickups and the controls were smooth and gradual. The only issue I had was with the output jack. It would only work intermittently. Tried different cables. Probably a simple issue of opening the back cover and checking the wires out. But the store I bought it from asked me to return it and they said they will replace it. So, I will know when I get my second copy. ... show more

  • Why did I not buy this BEAUTY SOONER?!?! Why did I not buy this BEAUTY SOONER?!?!
So recently learning about the Ibanez S series guitars, I found this beauty and saw the other fantastic reviews on it! Honestly, this guitar is a STEAL! Honestly plays like a one thousand dollar guitar! Super well crafted, everything was perfect! No fret buzz, super duper awesome to play because of how slim it is, and it's just PERFECT! Highly recommend to anyone! Literally the only guitar that you need! (unless you collect guitars like me haha) ... show more

  • Disappointed - Unacceptable build quality - Did I get scammed? Disappointed - Unacceptable build quality - Did I get scammed?
Short version: (-) Poor build quality (-) Guitar not fully assembled when it arrived. (-) Bridge in not located correctly, cannot set intonation. (-) Disappointed in Ibanez. The full story: After reading many positive reviews, I was elated when this guitar arrived on my door step. The first thing I did was rush inside and plug this thing up to my amp. That's when the disappointment set in. Some assembly required... The output jack wasn't assembled to the guitar body. It had over 1/4" of play in the body. So I pulled the backplate off and tightened down. I have no idea how something this obvious leaves a factory. Next, I took a look at the pots. I found that the knobs had been pressed on so far that they were tight against the body of the guitar and could not be rotated. The pots were also not fully tightened. I corrected both of these issues. However, the volume knob had been pressed into the body to the point where it damaged the finish. So my brand new guitar has its first blemish. Before I have played one note on it. With tools in hand, I figured I better check the rest of the guitar. Sure enough, two of the neck bolts were very loose, requiring several turns of the screw driver to tighten them. But, now at least the guitar is fully assembled. And there are still issues... Finally, I could play the guitar. And I found that the action was set too high. At least for me. I ended up bringing each saddle down by 1-3/4 rotations on each set screw. I broke out the radius gauge and trued the strings to the neck radius (it appears they were all just set flat originally). It's still a little higher than I would like it, but any lower and a couple of strings would start to buzz. I'm guessing there is a fret or two that are too high and need to be leveled. That will be for another time. (At least the neck was straight!) I tuned it up and went on to setting the intonation. Each string was about a half step flat one octave up. The E, B and e strings all ran out of adjustment (the saddle screws were not long enough) before they could be brought into tune. The other strings are almost to the same point. The best I can tell, the bridge was installed on this guitar a 1/4" to 1/2" too far away from the neck. At this point I was frustrated and didn't want to start drilling new holes into my brand new guitar. I set it up here and left it. Final thoughts... Maybe I just got the last guitar off of the assy line on 5pm on a Friday (or whenever they quit working where this was built). Maybe the quality control team took the day off when this was built. It had me wondering if I had been scammed with a knockoff copycat of an Ibanez. Looking at it a little more, this doesn't appear to be the case. But who knows. I know this is only a $400 guitar. But for that money, I expect the guitar to at least be put together. And for that money, I would really like the guitar to be playable after a setup. But, that's now what I got for my money. After being really excited to get this guitar, I was left very disappointed in Ibanez. ... show more

  • Superb for the price
This guitar is a simple instrument, without any fancy electronics or hardware, that really impresses by its quality. Its super light, and the contoured body lets it hang close to your body. The neck is wider and thinner than a les paul, with a satin back that makes it fast to play. Would take this over a stray any day ... show more

  • An Excellent Guitar
I received my Ibanez S521 yesterday. The seller, Pineville Music (NC), shipped it out immediately and it arrived the next day via UPS. Granted I do live about 100 miles away from their store. But the guitar was very well packed in a sturdy outer box and appropriate material to protect the manufacturer box and the guitar. Pineville Music and Ibanez definitely know how to pack a guitar. The guitar is so much fun to play. The neck just works for me. I love the compact body which is so comfortable to play seated (I'm a basement guitarist). I like having just a single volume and single tone control, along with the five way switch. I like this guitar so much that I even returned a recently purchased Fender Strat Player Series. To me the Fender just isn't worth twice as much. I like the flatter fret board and Jumbo frets on the Ibanez better, even if both guitars were the same price. I considered buying an Epiphone SG, Schecter C-1 Platinum and the Strat Player Series. For my money, the Ibanez just works. A quality instrument at a value price. ... show more
