I am an old school BMX'r and never wore a helmet. Getting back into it and being more fragile I decided to purchase one. I tried another brand and the sizing was sketchy. The S1 Lifer sizing is spot on. I have a 22" dome and the large is sized for 22". Fit perfect!! Also, great quality, very light and feels awesome. Looks ok too. Doesn't make your head look like a watermelon. Fit makes me want to wear it. Oh, just a heads up, you get extra foam liners to install if the standard liners make the fit a little tight or if its loose you can install the different size foam liners. Really easy, velcro installation. Love this helmet!

I got this helmet last month for mountain boarding and I am in love with it. It is definitely protective and I am happy to trust my skull to it. I ordered this in black but they were out so I replaced it with green l that was fine since either was fine. That is about the only complaint but they refunded my shipping so it's okay. The helmet came in a nice little box and had a few stickers, pamphlet and extra soft pads. The soft pads are what make the helmet different sizes as the shell is the same. I ordered the large since my head is about 22 inches and it did like a glove. The great thing is it came with pads for S, M, L and XL. Now I can even let others wear it without a problem. The overall look is pretty big since I have a slim face but for the protection, it doesn't matter. Now for the most important part. The protection. As i was learning to mountain board, i hit a spot that caused the board to slide out from under me causing me to fall backwards and slide to a stop. This was on a heavily used gavel road. I hit, my had bounced and I slid about 20 feet. After getting up and limping to my girlfriend, because of a couple of torn muscles in my lower leg, she freaked out wondering if I was okay because of how hard my head hit the ground. I was confused because I didn't feel any pain in my head, none. I didn't even notice my head hit and the only reminder was a scuff on the back of the helmet. I will never ride without it. I highly recommend this helmet to everyone.

I was hoping that this helmet would fit my 62-63 cm head it does not, uncomfortably tight front and back with thinnest pads. I don't know how they think this is a XXX Large. Otherwise seems to be a very good and high quality helmet but it will be returned. There is just no profit in protecting extra large heads as the numbers that would be sold do not justify the investment needed to make such helmets - molds for plastic items are extremely expensive. I bought a helmet from Triple 8, Model 'Heed', that comes in just two colors, one size, and is made for extra large heads (not available on Amazon). It seems to be identical to their Sweatsaver helmets but is not certified for any use. My guess is that is Triple 8 just did not want spend the time and money in certifying a helmet that will only ever sell in small numbers. Found helmets for large square heads online from Germany but they will not/cannot ship to the U.S. because they are not certified here. Will updated my results with the Heed' helmet. Update: S1 Helmets has a 'Mega Lifer' helmet that comes in extra big sizes. Amazon's search engine does not seem to display it until you include the word 'Mega'. Canceled the return and give helmet to my son who has a 'normal' head. Changing rating because S1 contacted me very fast and helmet does seem to be very high quality, unlike Amazon's search engine .

My wife insisted I wear a helmet while One-wheeling and I’m so glad I listened. Took a hard fall that resulted in a dislocated shoulder and concussion. Doesn’t that mean the helmet didn’t work? No! Not at all. Without the helmet who knows, but it would have been far worse; it may have been a lifesaver. The helmet is comfortable, attractive and essential if you value your melon. Don’t ride without a good helmet. Be safe, have fun!

Helmet is nice, although the extra sizing pads were not included. Thankfully S1 directly sent me some. For those with a cranium that is more on the "round" side versus usual "egg shape", make sure to try it out first if possible. I had to step up one size due to this. Other than that it's well made and stable. Straps are comfortable without being itchy. Time will tell how long it holds up. Ventilation is well placed and not overly hot. Dropped one star due to no extra pads, but later sent some after contacting S1 directly.

It came with three different sizes of pads in "MM" size marked bags. There is a front piece and a rear piece to mix and match to make it fit. It fit my head out of the box.
