Well made, good looking stepstool but tippy! The adults and children in our household fell off repeatedly. If you place feet anywhere but the center, it tips over. Would not recommend for children or older people.

Well made, nice finish, cut out "handle" convenient, but definitely not a safe choice for seniors with balance issues. I wear size 8 shoe, am not overweight, 77 and thought it would be perfect for bed stool. First off, barefoot the handle cut out is uncomfortable, it's suited for one foot only and worst - it's unstable in an instant. I foresee a bad accident waiting to happen so I won't use it. Too bad, as I stated, it's well crafted.

This thing is extremely well made. How do I know? I tore it apart in order to just use the top. Some may think I am kidding, but see the pictures. I needed a deep walnut base for a piece of sculpture and as it was a rush job, did not have time to fab a base from scratch. So ordered the stool for overnight delivery and removed the base. I had hoped it was screwed on, but not a chance. The base was fully glued and slot joined on every joint and the base was fully glued and tacked to the top. It is built like a tank. Had rubber pads on the feet too. So if you are worried about its ability to last, have no fear. If I ever actually need a footstool, I would buy this one in a heartbeat. BTW, this saved my bacon and looks great as a base for the sculpture. I assed felt pads to the bottom of the top piece just to finish it off.

The stool is as pictured, but upon use found dangerous design. The platform extends over the base on all sides so if you step on it away from the middle, towards an edge, it tips over and can cause severe fall. DO NOT USE if you cannot protect yourself when falling. Best on carpet with frameless bed so if there is a fall there is less likely injury. Do not use to get in and out of bed when sleepy or in the dark. The top is also slick so be careful with bare feet or socks that can slide. It is fine as decorative piece, but not safe or functional. Surprised this is still being sold when so many reviewers have reported the danger.

I bought stool to help reach high bookshelves and for help with shades. The bookshelves are made of teak, and so I selected the teak color stool. Since it is made of pine (much less expensive than teak), it still looks a little more yellow than the shelves, but it is close enough for the room.
