I was concerned at first because it seemed to drive 3½" torx deck screws slowly. But after 10 or so screws it kept getting faster. I've used Ryobi tools for several years now and have been a fan of the value for the money. I'd never used their brushless versions before, but a friend swears by them, and so I bought this impact.     • Awesome impact driver but not like plastic housing
I brought this impact driver because I have the compact drill of ryobi that they usually come as a combo kit with drill and this impact driver. I got this for use for compact spaces for just putting in screws nothing more and work’s incredible in putting screws like putting screws on door hinges which took a few seconds with no impact noise. Also use I use it to do a wood gate and works great. It’s a great impact driver just two things I don’t like or wish it had there no button setting like a makita does or other tool brand because this impact driver is as small as the makita subcompact driver and wish it had it and the housing which all impact driver housing is usually a metal die cast this impact driver is plastic which if you are using it constantly large to long screws then when it gets hot it could melt so this is good for screwing medium to small screws but over all this impact driver is a good impact driver it’s a four star because of two cons of this impact driver but the pro is the price I got for it is 50 dollars which is far cheaper than the price at Home Depot which is a plus and works good I recommend it for someone want to but it but it does not include a belt clip or bit holder or does not have a mag tray like the other ryobi tools but it’s a good purchase. ... show more

    • Great for small projects, minor home DIY work.
I'm not a big home project kind of guy, but I still needed an impact driver for some stuff. This one seems pretty good. I mirror others' complaint about it not having variable torque (it's a bit high for some things, e.g. mounting through drywall to studs; it'll crush/crack the drywall if you're not careful), but the variable speed trigger makes it manageable. If you've already impacted something in a bit and need it to go only a smidgen further, it's honestly easier to back it out and then retry than it is to try to get the driver to actually start impacting at a slow enough speed to not crack whatever you're driving into. I haven't tested this driver with the better (HP) ryobi batteries, so there's a chance it might behave better at low speeds starting on something that's already driven most of the way with a better battery. I've heard many Ryobi tools behave better with the better batteries. BUT you're probably not getting the smallest ryobi impact driver (especially at this pricepoint) to then spend more on a nicer battery - I'm not either. All of that said, bless having a usable impact driver; it's nice to be able to use my existing One+ 18v batteries (so I could get the tool on its own, cheaper); and it's great how small it is. Still pretty loud though; you will need ear protection. Wish they made a compact Whisper one (or whatever they branded the quiet handheld power tools). ... show more

I bought it to replace an older brushed model. Advertised to have more power and better battery life. It is more compact, lighter, has more power and at least as good battery life. Very happy with the driver.

I'll start with saying that when this listing is for "tool only" they aren't kidding. I was expecting a retail package like other tool only Ryobi items I've ordered, but it arrived in a carboard shipping box with the paperwork included. That's not really a negative even though I usually keep my tools in the retail boxes they arrive in. Arrived two days earlier than anticipated. Tool appears brand new and unused. A quick function test proved it works and the speed is pretty easy to control with the variable speed trigger.
