I picked this up to seal some gear and it worked great. It left a completely clear, glass-like shine that shrugs off water, but I had to be careful with the application. The Good: Actually Clear: Zero yellow tint. It dried completely transparent, even over light colors. Tough Finish: Once it cured, it handled moisture and rough handling without scratching or clouding up. Dried Fast: It tacked over quickly, so I didn't have to worry about dust or bugs getting trapped in the wet paint. The Catch: Heavy Spray: The nozzle put out a lot of paint at once. When I held it too close or moved too slow, it wanted to run and drip. I found that doing 2 or 3 very light, fast coats worked way better than trying to do one thick one. Verdict: It did exactly what I needed it to do and protected the surface well. Just take your time spraying and give it a full day to cure before tossing your stuff into a backpack. ... show more

Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch 2X Clear Gloss: the dependable clear coat you reach for without thinking twice This Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch 2X Ultra Cover Clear Gloss is one of those garage staples that just works. I’ve used it for quick DIY touch-ups, sealing painted parts, and protecting small projects, and it consistently delivers a smooth, even gloss without drama. Coverage is excellent for a rattle can. Light, overlapping passes build nicely, and the finish levels out well without that pebbly texture cheaper clears can leave behind. It’s touch-dry in about 20 minutes, which makes same-day projects realistic, though I still let it cure overnight for anything that’ll see handling or light abuse. The spray pattern is predictable and forgiving, and the comfort nozzle really does reduce finger fatigue during longer sessions. Adhesion has been solid on wood, metal, and plastic (properly cleaned), and once cured, the coating holds up well against minor scuffs and chips.
