This red oxide primer worked out well for repainting my lawn mowers. The mowers had alot of rust and scratches so i sanded down the areas with 80 grit sand paper then finished with 220 grit sand paper. I sprayed on this primer in thin coats until i was happy with the coverage, probably 4-5 coats. I waited a few minutes between coats. After the primer I sprayed on the top coat a few minutes after. I sprayed multiple thin coats of the top coat waiting a few minutes between coats. I ended up waiting well over a week for everything to dry and cure before I touched the mowers and put them back together. I waited until the top coats felt fully hard and did not dent when pressed with a finger nail. This primer sprays on thin but has good coverage. I worked on two mowers and still have about half the can left. The top coat paint I went thru more of, used almost the full can of green on the JD mower. For the red Troy Bilt I used Rustoleum sunrise red spray paint. ... show more

I used this as the primer for my trailer paint (painted with Farm & Implement paint), and this worked really well. I followed the instructions on the can. Cleaned the metal. Applied it in the right temperature range. And it went on very well! It covered more than I anticipated, even with multiple coats. The only issue I had was the overspray. It got everywhere. More so the primer than the paint. So far it seems to be holding up! This is an AZ trailer, so UV damage is the main concern, rather than corrosion. ... show more
