I bought this watch and used it to fix several appliances because it was convenient to be around and it could tell me a lot about how things worked and could test voltages and currents. All functions of the meter are on the front and easy to read. This is definitely a great help.

This reminds me of my old sliderule (yes I am that old) that had 22 scales but I only used maybe six of them, CD, AB, and trig scales. In the same way on this super versatile multimeter you will use the voltage, current (AC and DC), resistance, features all the time but the capacitance, inductance, frequency, transistor and diode tests, temperature (they include a Thermocouple 36 inches (91.5 cm) long) will be so relatively infrequent that you will need to keep the excellent two page (well written English) instruction sheets in a safe place to refer to them. These instruction sheets also give the limits and accuracy for each range. They give detailed instructions as to which of the four input holes to put the two test leads as well as the dial settings needed. Even measuring voltage, current and capacitance you have the choice of relative, maximum and minimum and you can get true RMS readings as well. And they include available backlighting on the large digits and a convenient flashlight which they refer to as a torch. Concerning the transistor testing: you have to know if it is NPN or PNP and which is the collector, base, and emitter (CBE) it does not identify anything for you. The only two downsides I see are 1. The battery cover holddown screw (#0 Phillips) is hard to get aligned to screw back in and is not captive and can be lost if you are not careful. Suggest working over a large empty cardboard box. And 2. The overload protection is fuses not an electronic disconnect. So you probably want to have a couple spares. In conclusion: highly recommend if you need all these features.

I don't have strong electrical knowledge, I'm just a basic handyman around the house. I knew getting this that it probably does more than I would ever need, and it does. Unit itself is a good size, very solid feeling, and actually has some pretty good weight to it. The screen is fantastic, nice large numbers with a back light making it very easy to read. I love the little 'kickstand' on the back, so I can set it for optimal viewing angle. Leads are reasonably long and have quite the point on the tip. They have a removable sleeve, so you can have just the tip touching, or get more connection on the side of the lead with the cover off. The back of the unit has spaces to store the leads, which holds them in tightly. As I started my review, it does a lot, more than I would know what to do with. On the negative side, it has that nice large display, but then tiny little numbers you point to on the rotary dial. The rest of the buttons have labels that could be larger as well. I've never liked it when I need a small screwdriver to open the cover to change the batteries, but it is even worse, when like this, the screw is not connected, and can fall out and easily be lost. AC and DC markings do not exist (current OR voltage), instead it uses a symbol, which while I can learn, I would vastly prefer it to just SAY AC or DC. I kind of wish it came with a little case or at least a drawstring bag, but I guess I already knew that it didn't from the description. Finally (so far), maybe this is my misunderstanding, but it seems that the current inputs are mislabeled on the directions (and description page). It SEEMS to me that the 20A is the bottom jack, and the 200mA is the one above it. At least that is how it is labeled on the face of the unit. So, while I've got issues with it, it "IS" a very solid unit, with an easy-to-read screen and will work out well for me for basic measurements. For its feel and features, it is a pretty good deal, as well.

The media could not be loaded. This is a wonderful item for your household if you’re like me and you like to fix your own things! I don’t like to rely on anybody or to pay anybody to fix my appliances and this is great. It helps me identify if there’s power going to certain parts of that appliance or not so it helps me identify the problem source without having to replace all kinds of parts! This has all kinds of options and choices! And the price was perfect in my bracket! Fixed my dryer in one shot thanks to this!
