  • Simple is better
I have come to the general conclusion that for the most part, simple is better. I always bought this Rubbermaid dish rack & it’s lasted for years. I already have a plexiglass angled drain tray that I’ve used over the years. The only problem is that this rack is not made as thick & heavier as it used to be, but the simplicity & direction of the plate rack section is what I prefer. ... show more

  • Exactly what I wanted
I looked all over in the local stores to get a Rubbermaid replacement dish drainer exactly like the one I bought years ago (which had worn out). All of the local stores had smaller ones but not this larger size. So I purchased this online after searching for it. Good price. Larger size. This fits on top of the fabric dish drainer pads that people so often purchase. ... show more

  • Rubbermaid is a good and solid product.
I’ve used Rubbermaid drain products for many years. Replaced an old one with this new one. The size was fine, but I noticed it was just slightly less heavy as my old one. Not a big deal. I would recommend this product as it is a good, sturdy dish drain that can hold a lot of dishes. Not fancy, but good. ... show more

  • Fit perfectly. Looks great....but
This is exactly what I was looking for as far as a dish rack goes. My only comment is that in my opinion the utensil holder is really small. Can't fit too many. I ended up ordering another utensil holder that fits perfectly and has plenty of room. Otherwise, I'm pleased with my purchase.

  • Still good, but not as good as they used to be.
We purchased the Rubbermaid large dish drainer rack to replace a smaller one that we had for a long time. There were some differences that were immediately noticeable. The coated metal wires the rack is made from are quite a bit thinner than the ones in the old rack. The metal in the new one is quite stiff, so the thickness may not turn our to be a problem, but if you're used to one of the old ones, it makes these new ones look and feel flimsy by comparison. The silverware cup on the new one is rather small, but the bigger issue is that it's mounted at the front end of the rack, which creates a hazard for your hand and arm when go to place something in the rack and there is already silverware in the cup. If you decide to remove the silverware cup for safety, or if you just find it annoying in that position, you're left with a large opening in the front. I'd much rather have it in back or at the back end of one of the sides, and it would be helpful if you could hang it on the outside of the rack and have it angled properly when hung that way. It appears to be designed such that it only hangs at the proper angle when it's mounted inside the rack. Overall, though, the rack still does the job pretty well, and it's nice to have the increased capacity compared to the old one. I hope it holds up as well and lasts as long as the old one did. ... show more

  • Close but ...
This is almost the old, rubber coated wire dish rack we all grew up with, but just not quite. As other reviewers have said, it is a lighter gauge metal. Otherwise though, looks like it should do its job of drying dishes. :-)

  • Made in America!
I'm trying to make more effort to buy American made products. I have been looking to replace my old dish rack which was this exact same model, but I was considering other designs. The only two companies I saw that had dish racks were made in America and within my price range were Rubbermaid and Sterilite. I've owned the Sterilite one before and the design doesn't work with my kitchen setup so I bought the same one I had. Now, I only just got this one a couple of days ago, but I can speak from experience regarding the one I had before. Does it rust? Mine did, but not until after over 5 years of use and because the plastic coating eventually started to crack due to heavy use (we hand wash all our dishes). We use ours on our kitchen counter and have a Rubbermaid drain board underneath it. The great thing about this particular rack is that it can be set up in either direction - but if you're using the Rubbermaid drain board, you can only set it up with the long side being parallel to the side of your sink (but it takes up less counter space that way). Because it's a wire rack, there are no crevices for water to collect (the plastic ones I've used before have. The utensil container does require more attention because it can get mildewy in there. I just take a bottle brush with some dish soap periodically and clean that out. I'm glad that the dividers in the utensil container don't go up higher beacuse I can fit more things in there more easily. And setting dishes is great. I prefer to place the dishes in one direction and they stand up straight. If you place them the other direction, they are at a slight angle - at least that's how it is with my dishes. And the rack is big and sturdy enough for me to put in my heavy pans. I've even used to air dry my cast iron skillet after I do a quick wipe-down with a towel. My old rack really took a beating and I know this one will too. ... show more

  • We've been using this model for years
We have used this specific model now for a few decades. Yes - they do wear out with some minor rust after a few years of heavy use. They are practical and sturdy and will last 3 - 5 years between replacements. The cost is effective over other options for a family of 2 - 4 people. Rubbermaid is an excellent brand for this kind of kitchenware. Recommended. ... show more
